โ€ผ READ FIRST - Before Posting in Get Help

Welcome to the Hubitat Community. You are probably reading this because you are about to ask for help, or you already did but did not provide enough information and were sent here!

If you are new and need to post screenshots, manually join the owners group:
-> Hub owners - Hubitat

TIP: When posting logs, screenshots are much easier to read.

Help for Apps, Integrations, or Drivers

If you are having a problem with a community-written app or driver, please post for help in the project thread rather than creating a new one. It will make it much easier for the author or other users to try to help as they may not spot it otherwise.

For anything else just post in the appropriate section and provide as much details as possible.

Help for Devices

See tips and what to provide for Z-Wave and Zigbee Issues in the post below. Post in the appropriate section and provide as much details as possible.

Help for General Hub Problems

(Low memory, errors, crashing, hub becomes unavailable, etc..)
The VERY FIRST THING to try would be a database rebuild. This will clear out any database issues from an improper shut-down or other system issues.

  • Go to Settings
  • Click on Reboot
  • Selection option to Rebuild database and click the Yes button.

Backup Docs if needed: Backup and Restore (Settings) | Hubitat Documentation

Unresponsive Hub Web UI

  • Make sure that the device you are using to access the hub's web interface is connected to the same local network as the hub.
  • Try to connect to the diagnostic tool on port 8081:
-> Hubitat Diagnostic Tool | Hubitat Documentation
  • You can at least do a proper shut down from there, and restart
  • Try to ping the Hub IP (optional)
  • Try a Network Reset: Network Setup | Hubitat Documentation
  • If still having issues post results of these tests in your topic!

Help for Hub Related Issues

Please provide the following info (if you are not sure just say so)

All Hub Issues

  • Model of Hub
  • Platform/firmware on hub

Connection / Goes Offline

  • How is it connected to the LAN?
    • Ethernet / Wifi
    • Static IP set on Hub or DHCP?
    • DHCP Reservation set on Router/Server?
  • How is Hub being powered? Supplied power block or other (explain)
  • Brief explanation of network topology.
  • Brief explanation of firewall / DNS / DHCP services.
  • Is Jumbo Frames enabled anywhere on the LAN?
  • How many devices total (approx) and mix between Zwave, Zigbee, LAN/Wi-fi
  • What user / custom integrations are you using for LAN/IP/Cloud based connections?
  • Screenshots of Past Logs from the incident, and also of any errors being generated recently.

Z-Wave Issues

For partial or total loss of Z-Wave control (radio seems dead), before doing anything else please shut down the hub from settings and unplug for 30 seconds, then re-plug to boot back up. This will allow the radios to fully power down and restart. A regular reboot only restarts the platform and not the radio hardware.

Confirm that hub's Z-Wave regional radio frequency matches that of your device. Check hub's region on Z-Wave Details page to ensure that is set to your local region (E.G. EU - 868.4 MHz, 869.85 MHz for European countries).

Make sure you do not have a Z-Wave firmware update available: [Instructions HERE]
The Update Firmware button is hidden when the Z-Wave firmware is already up to date.
Use http://YOUR.HUB.IP/hub/zwaveVersion to check your version info.

  • Provide screenshot of Z-Wave Topology Map (red/blue squares)
