Hubitat Offline But Green Light

Hi everyone,

So far it has happened twice and both times I have to unplug and replug the power which I know is not good for the Hubitat. Details of events below + error log from recent time (can't remember when the first time was to look up log).

Device = hubitat C8
Devices connected are: Door and window sensors (zwave), light/dimmer switches (zwave), google API to connect the Google Nest Thermostat (used to connect the google doorbell and google cameras but there was no use so i disabled them).

From the error log, you can see it went offline at 4:41am. We didn't notice it all day because we didn't use anything. We tried using a google command at about 7:12pm and thats when we noticed it didn't work. I tried connecting to it but it wouldn't load the page (offline). When I checked my router, it said it was offline. The device itself was still lit green. It is connected via ethernet to an unmanaged switch which is connected to the wifi/router. I didn't do anything special with my switch or router with regards to the hubitat. It was plug and play.

Appreciate any help! I have a feeling mine is defective due to no error message but maybe I am wrong.

Did you try connecting to diagnostic tool when it went offline?

Do you have jumbo frames enabled on your router or any server/NAS that is on your LAN?

I've tried connecting to the diagnostic tool but it would not load. (Tried both the 1st and recent time)

I am not sure what jumbo frames. I have the google nest wifi/router and when I check the settings, I don't see jumbo frames as an option. I have the bell home hub 3000 as the modem and I also don't see the jumbo frames as an option.

I have no servers or NAS (had to google the latter lol).

Thank you

It has happened twice, in how long? How long have you had the hub?

Usually if diag is not reachable that means something happened on the networking side that kicked the hub off the network. Do any local only automations still work? Having nothing in logs for that large chunk of time would suggest though that the hub platform crashed in some way.

I'm not seeing errors in the log you posted. Only warnings, info and debug messages. Maybe I'm just not seeing what you are that indicates offline. Sorry if I'm missing it, but maybe you can point it out to me.

However, this might be where the issue is...

I'm taking a guess, but I'll bet that your router is set to expire the DHCP reservation after 1 day, and around the time you're seeing the problem is when it happens. So what you should do is access your router setup and reserve an IP for the hub (usually this is done, by selecting the MAC address of the hub or other devices that you want to reserve an IP for. The actual proceedure varies by router manufacturer though). Reserving the IP will ensure that your hub is always avaiable to you and other IP devices on your network at the exact same address each day.

Any other IP based smart devices like Google, etc. should also have their IP address reserved in the router so your Hubitat hub can always find them at the same IP address too.
