There's lots of reports of the Econet Bulldog valve working great for other people, can you elaborate on your issues with connecting it to your Hubitat hub? (screenshots/pics are great)
Any compatible leak sensors on the list linked below should work for you to set up a locally controlled system using your Hubitat hub to monitor for leaks, and when detected shut off your water with your Bulldog valve (while alerting you at the same time).
