Remote Access, iPhone App, and Alexa skill stopped working

C7 hub.

After update to 2.3.9.166, these all stopped working.

Been suffering in silence for a few days, but now the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) has dropped to critical levels.

iPhone App
iPhone app only works when connected on local network. While trying to access outside local network, the hub cannot be found.

  • This has been working flawlessly since inception
  • Worked flawlessly after the iPhone app update

Remote Access
When I go to the remote connect website, my hub is seen with the proper local IP address, but will not connect for remote admin (just spins).

  • The only way I can access the Hubitat hub remotely is to VPN into my UniFi gateway, and use the iPhone app and/or browser.

Alexa Integration
Alex keeps saying she cannot find the Hubitat devices. Looking into the Alexa app, the status for the devices is wrong...and manually clicking the devices doesn't affect any change.

  • This has been working flawlessly since inception
  • I tried enabling and disabling the Alexa app on Hubitat and the Alexa skill on Alexa

I ran the network testing tools on Hubitat, and everything is working fine (DNS can resolve properly).

Network is UniFi, 2 Gbps up/down fiber.


Please provide your hub model (C7, C8, etc.) and its platform version from Settings>Hub Details.

Check on My Hubitat > Registered Hubs > Hub Details
You can see there if hub is connected to cloud system.

You can use the diag tool to roll back the platform version (you do not need to restore a backup, only revert the platform). The last platform you had installed show should in the previous versions lists.

You could try rebooting all your networking gear then once thats done, reboot the hub. That has been known to solve mysterious connection issues before.

If you think its the platform update that broke it, I gave info above about how to roll it back.

I will try a network reboot tonight...takes a bit on these UniFi systems.

No other devices are having problems though...

Has been the case for others as well, and rebooting everything fixed it. So worth a try.

Rebooted Hub 2 times...can now connect through the iPhone app when off the network.

Rebooted Hub 2 times...can now link Amazon Alexa skill.

Nice bug...
