2.3.9.157 - Zigbee plugs are found but do not function

I would keep it upgraded to the latest

I don't think you need to be on 2.3.8, you could update back to current if you want, either way it should not matter.

Not sure what the intended order of the power down would be, I suspect it might be better to do that after you change the channel. Maybe not immediately but after a few minutes.

Most Zigbee devices will pick up the new channel pretty quick and move over, even without rebooting.

This is the intended approach, @goldbond1.

OK good sign! (I hope)

Did the power down wait 30 seconds restart and started pair again. This time, 1 of my Sonoff was found! I will try others and confirm the apps are firing.

Edit: Spoke 2 soon. 1 indicated pairing but all are still flashing as in pairing mode. They do not respond to device on/off still.

Will keep playing and try the channel change next..

It is my experience that a number of devices (e.g. Jasco outlets & switches, Ikea Repeaters, etc.) do not follow a hub in moving to a new channel, and have to be re-paired.
Your mileage May Vary.

Do you only have this 'flashing as in pairing mode' problem with your Sonoff devices? Are all other Zigbee devices working OK at the moment?

Hi kkossev, Not sure if you recall. You helped me with network channel issues and Aqara drivers about a year ago. Been flawless up until now. Big thank you again for that effort.

Yes, all the plugs flash while pairing then stop as if paired in roughly 30 seconds. However, they continue to flash off and on (little green light) as if not paired. All are impacted. I need to read up/confirm I am resetting the Dogain properly. Not much in documentation. They have the exact same symptoms. I changed channels and looking at the zigbee logs, I only see about 12 of 80 devices checking in. It's been about 1 hour.

It can be 24 hours or more for things to settle on the new Zigbee channel, so don't worry about that yet.

Several of the Aqara motion within range of the HE are firing apps for KASA wifi lights that are near base but plugs do not pair or work at all.

Any update/fix suggested? I am monitoring this and the other thread on the topic and don't see anything.

Hi @goldbond1 , it is difficult for me to follow up on this thread, I am lost as to what is the problematic device. Can you please summarize :

  • the device model and manufacturer (as shown on HE web page 'Device Details' section)
  • the driver used
  • your HE hub model
  • the device model and manufacturer (as shown on HE web page 'Device Details' section)

Hi kkossev, Details:

1 of the SONOFF models that doesn't work. driver:
* endpointId: 01
* application:
* firmwareMT: 1286-0041-00001100
* manufacturer: SONOFF
* model: S40LITE
* powerCluster: none
* softwareBuild: 00001100

The other type is a Dogain which worked fine for almost a year:

  • endpointId: 01
  • application: 05
  • manufacturer: eWeLink
  • model: SA-003-Zigbee
  • powerCluster: none

  • your HE hub model - C8

  • The driver used - Generic Zigbee Plug for all (been fine for over a year)

go back to 147 will work

If you're experiencing issues pairing Zigbee 3.0 devices with your Hubitat C-8 hub, the following steps in this 'Double Luck voodoo' may help resolve the problem:

  1. Position the Device Close to the Hub: Place the Zigbee 3.0 device in close proximity to your C-8 hub to ensure a strong signal during the pairing process.
  2. Rebuild the Zigbee Network:
  • Navigate to Settings > Zigbee Details on your Hubitat interface.
  • Click the Rebuild Network button.
  • Wait for the process to complete; the button will become clickable again once finished.
  • Click the Rebuild Network button a second time and allow the process to complete.
  1. Initiate Pairing Mode:
  • Go to Devices > Add Device > Zigbee.
  • Select the option to Pair while trying to avoid Zigbee 3.0 repeaters and confirm your choice.
  1. Activate Pairing on the Device: Follow the manufacturer's instructions to put your Zigbee device into pairing mode, typically by pressing and holding the pairing button for 4-5 seconds.

Please follow these steps precisely, without skipping or altering the sequence, to enhance the likelihood of a successful pairing.

This method has been effective for other users facing similar issues. For more details, refer to the discussion on the Hubitat community forum or to the links below.

Will give this a go. BTW, should I update to latest build prior to doing this or stick with 2.3.8.140?

NOTE: I do not have 147 build as well.

Update: Tried with 140 and latest 157 and neither worked. I ensured 2 rebuild networks then add device with pairing (avoid repeater) Neither worked. All plugs are still flashing and cannot turn them on/off within HE.

Thatā€™s weird, the ā€˜double luckā€™ procedure worked for me and for some other HE users who tried it. I was able to pair and keep connected some very problematic Zigbee devices that never worked before on my C-8 hubs.

What Zigbee channel you are using now? Some Zigbee devices do not like channels different than the standard 11-15-20-25
Although, I am using non-standard channels with other Sonoff devices without a problem.

When pairing, do you see any errors in the live logs Hub tab?

Does this mean that the problematic Sonoff devices are found and paired successfully?

If you assign the HE inbuiltā€˜Deviceā€™ driver and you click on the ā€˜Get Infoā€™ button, do you see any response in the live logs?

If you turn the plugs on/off locally,ā€™using their on/off button- do you see anything in the logs?

The Sonoff nor the Dogain will pair. Both models do the double click within 10 seconds as if they pair. However, the HE never ack that there is any pairing going on. My network is still broken due to the loss of the extenders.

There is all I get in the logs for the SONOFF when manually powering off/on or through HE app: (I stripped the URL)
[dev:1037]2024-06-30 12:18:37.582
[warn]starting options testing...

[dev:1037]2024-06-30 12:18:29.510
[warn]running configure in 5 seconds...

One of the last check in for my living room SONOFF is 2024-06-26 18:54:33 EDT. I have tried to turn this on/off and reset several times since.

What is odd is that many of the Aqara within range are checking in fine. Some are dropping off now due to distance I believe as plugs are basically dead that have been reset.

Just to confirm on Wifi side as well:
AP 1 is set to 1/2412MHZ
AP 2 is set to 6/2437MHZ
There are static set.
I have the HE set to channel 25.

Can you answer these questions, please?

Sorry I missed that. The only thing in the live log following get info:

[dev:1037][debug](URL here)getting info for unknown Zigbee device...

I turned the unit on/off manually and nothing else I could see.

EDIT: I didn't realize this but some of the plugs are working. I just turned off 1 of the S31s by way of HE device control that is about 20 ft from the HE. Honestly I thought all were dead. It now seems to be the ~6 I attempted to reset that were not originally responding.

To summarize some time after the most recent 157 update several of the SONOFF and Dogain plugs became unresponsive and would not fire rules or turn on/off by way of HE app. I attempted to reset ~6 (need to confirm) and would not recognize during Zigbee add. I have done a few power downs, restores, now back on latest rev and appears that several of the plugs I didn't mess with are either still working or working since restore?
