My go-to for a dimmer is Inovelli’s Blue Series (Zigbee) 2-1. Model number (VZM31-SN).
This device can act as a dimmer and a switch, is pretty easy to setup and has a TON of options, from a usable config button (that can be used for rules and such) to multi-taps on the up and down paddles.
It also has a LED switch that can be used to provide notifications - very useful to know that the garage door was left open! (And for a bunch of other things… )
I remodeled my two bathrooms this year. I decided to go Z-Wave and give Zooz products a chance. I used the 700 series of dimmers and switches and have been pleased with every aspect.
A great switch for 3- or 4- way circuits. Why? Not only are they reliable and solid performers, but because the dimming and dim level light bar are at every switch, including the companions.
Here in Straya, I’d say the Aeotec Nano range and Fibaro range of zwave modules are easily the most popular options for lighting.
They would typically be installed behind Clipsal switch plates with Clipsal momentary switch mechanisms (the system is modular). Eg the Iconic range that lets you choose switch caps with different icons:
I've had the most success with Inovelli and Zooz switches. Excellent functionality and support from both. I prefer the look of the Inovelli's, but the Zooz switches are considerably less expensive when they are on sale at thesmartesthouse.com.
The Inovelli Red Series LZW31-SN Z-Wave Plus was the switch from them when I bought them in 2021. I would nominate their new versions in Z-Wave, Zigbee and Matter but I don’t own any of those. As I had zero smart devices it took a good little while for my mesh to finally stabilize, but now with these (about 20 and 5 of their Fan+Light and 5 of the Blacks from 2021) it has been very stable.
The favorite thing myself and family love about these switches is the extra little Config/Favorite button. I’ve got them programmed via my C-8 (and C-7 before that) to be set to virtually the lowest setting that will turn on the lights they are attached to. That way in the early pre-coffee morning or late at night we push that to get a some light without being blinded. This avoids having to write special time or mode rules.
They also support multi-taps so I can make any as complex as I want.
We also love the led bar which makes the switch easy to find in a dark room (and you can set the level of brightness when on vs off or change the color to act as a notification such as if a door was left open).
You can also set the on/off ramp speed and the dimmer up/down speeds.
BTW, as many/all of us know, many times the lowest level a light will turn on at isn’t the lowest it will go. I understand it that the newer ones have a setting that will get them to turn on at this lower level.
I keep looking at other switches, just to keep up with what is out there, and none seem to have as many features as the Inovellis.
