Zigbee 3.0 button controller $8.88 USD at home Depot, includes cct bulb

Hello, saw this at home Depot and grabbed one. includes a bulb and a 4 button remote for $8.88 both of which are zigbee 3.0 certified. Tried to pair it to my hubitat but got no response, anyone think there's any hope for integrating this? Looked up fcc id, and it's made by leardson

EDIT-Apologies-This is posted in the wrong topic-DUH

Did you mean you tried the remote and it wouldn't pair or that you tried the bulb and remote and neither would pair? I'd be surprised if the bulb didn't (the box and manual both mention SmartThings, and both Hubitat and SmartThings users have what could be previous generations of this brand of bulbs working, if not this exact one).

For the remote, that's less surprising: the only thing I see mentioned in the manual is Touch Link. Some of these will work (if they respond to requests from the hub for binding), but many won't (like the Ikea 5-button dimmer and some Zigbee remotes). If you have a Hue Bridge, I suspect it might work there if you pair the remote to the Hue Bridge using Touch Link (manually initiated with a third-party app) and are able to also add the bulb to that network, same as the Ikea 5-button dimmer). Someone who knows more about Zigbee and is able to get their hands on one could tell for sure about Hubitat, but not all hope may be lost if you have Hue.

Did you try factory resetting both before trying to join to Hubitat? The two devices are Zigbee 3.0. So, if they come out of the box paired to each other, they won't be able to pair to Hubitat. However, once you reset them, they should be able to join the ZHA Hubitat network. Now, whether it will work with Hubitat is anybody's guess. I'm almost sure that the bulb will work with Hubitat. But the remote is a different story. They have a bunch of them at my local Home Depot too. I'll probably pick one up tomorrow and see what I can see.

Not sure about this device. If it’s truly Zigbee 3.0, I would have thought it would support pairing with a hub. A friend tried to pair it to his SmartThings v2 hub and didn’t have any luck there either.

Can probably “authorize” it with a Hue bridge and then pair directly to a bulb without stealing the pairing, much like you were able to do with the Lutron Connected Bulb Remote. Does it say it can reset a smart bulb? That would be a handy tool to have around for those that don’t own a Lutron Connected Bulb Remote, or don’t want to buy a Hue dimmer to reset bulbs.

I did reset originally, got nothing, however tried again this morning and it paired as device! What I did different was to start pairing in the hub then reset the remote, while the hub was already searching.
here's the data:

@SmartHomePrimer it does says it can unpair a bulb, here's the instructions ;

Off to work now, will try bulb later today
Thanks everyone

I saw the bulb in the Zigbee certification a few months ago. I avoid the Homeless Despot but I'll have to stop by and get a few to try also. Price is good with the sale.

Hopefully the Zigbee 3.0 is better. I bought tons of Ecosmart Zigbee ZLL GUI10 bulbs before and they were not very reliable. Kept dropping offline on me. Luckily, they were also cheap and I pretty much have them away when I sold my Wink2.

Funny, homeless despot. Anywho the remote looks really sharp, and if some really sharp minds could figure out a driver, this would be a great little device. I saw ecosmart discussions over on ST, but those were from years ago. This device and bulb are relatively new and only went thru FCC in the first half of 2019, and with zig 3.0 my hopes are up

It doesn't work with any generic Zigbee remote driver on the list?

I have heard the Home Depression also. I heard both somewhere and now interchangeably use them to refer to the Home Depot because I seem to find the place unsatisfactory everytime I try to go there.

In Canada, they improved with years. 10 years ago, find somebody helpful (and sometimes just find somebody only in the store) was very difficult. Now, at least, they say hello...

I'm dying to try, but my HA addiction has me at work, making money to buy more HA stuff.

I'll test later tonight. You guys think my boss would let me go home early if I told him I have some important buttons to press at home?:grin:

Of course the boss will let you go. Get him/her addicted to HA as well so you won't even have to ask next time.

Here's some messages from the logs. Initially had driver set to Iris 1 button, pressed each remote button once, then changed driver to other button devices . Nothing ever registered in the device events, not parsing since no driver exists, but found this;

Bulbs pairs as a RGBW bulb, changed it to Zigbee Color Temperature bulb and it works fine.

The Homeless Despot was in great form. Went to one that said it had 35 waited 20 minutes for them to find it but they never found it. So went to another Homeless Despot and they were there.

I also bought a kit.

The bulb works fine with the "Generic Zigbee CT Bulb (dev)" driver.

The remote does pair, but I could not get any response out of it - having tried most of the Zigbee button controllers.

Having said that, there is another remote that looks exactly like it - the Aurora AOne Smart Remote. That supposedly works with Smartthings UK (see post #156), and the Ecosmart remote is supposed to work with Smartthings here in US.

Now if one of our Hubitat experts can find a ST driver for us that might work, would be helpful!

Great detective work. I saw the same thing "works with ST" but zero evidence of a driver. It just paired as "thing" to my ST V2 hub.
And worse case, ST puts out a driver and I can use the remote with my ST hub using hubconnect to connect it to HE

I've got 10 of these - when I bought them right after thanksgiving the 2-pack of bulbs without the remote wasn't available. So far the bulbs are working great. The bulbs are still cheaper by $1.00/each if you buy 2 (bulb+remote) packs, rather than the single 2-pack of bulbs only. sigh yay for e-waste.

I can easily pair the remote to ST, Home Assistant, and Hubitat. However, other than the initial paring (which is quite easy - just hold the reset button inside the battery cover until the LED flashes) and a single battery report message from the remote, I never see any other logs indicating the remote sends any messages at all.

Given I have so many of them, I'd love to be able to use them for something.
