Unfortunately not unless you also have a SmartThings hub. Here is a little light reading.
Remote should pair directly to bulb. I have 12+ bulbs that I bought when that thread was active. Now that I have gotten rid of ST hub, I don't use remotes any more. The bulbs seem to repeat ok which is a problem with many Zigbee bulbs.
