[APP] SmartStart Manager for Z-Wave (Long Range support)

This is a job for @jtp10181 , but I'll opine anyway.

I suppose it's nice to have a backup copy of the dsk's, but you have to ask yourself, in what scenario will it be used?

If you have a lot of devices, you might be creating a lot of work, needlessly.

Perhaps a restore from a cloud backup?
Probably from before you added those two devices.
Maybe they should be removed first before attempting?

As I said, a job for @jtp10181 .

This is expected but not communicated anywhere :frowning:

Also expected.

No

If you switch back to ZIP your SmartStart should all be in tact there, you could then run the backup, switch back to JS, and restore the backup. I would leave them all disabled.

The only benefit is if you need to re-include the devices ever, you have everything ready to go. Otherwise it does not do anything to have it all saved in there.

Hey @jtp10181 I switched back to Z/ip gateway, whe I did the 4 or 5 devics I added while on JS are now showing pending , do i need to do something to being them over?

If they are just pending / not included in SmartStart then you can just disable them to have on reserve if needed. The link between the SS entry and the actual node does not carry over between ZIP and JS.

Or are they showing as pending in the Z-wave details and not working correctly?

Well. last night on my linux machine they were showng pending, not included (they have been for a couple weeks) . I updated this morning and now it throwing unexpected errors. Here is what was in logs

Most likely the endpoints are not returning any data. I think this came up in beta also. Try a reboot or maybe even a shut down and see if that fixes that error.

Reboot did it . Here it is. it's the four near the bottom that were added under Zwave JS

They will never show the node info on ZIP, conversely anything added on ZIP wont show the node info when running JS. Best bet is to just disable everything not actively being included. You can enable it case by case if you need to include something again.

It's definitely not worth the headache to switch (back) to ZIP only to repeat the procedure to JS. I'll not worry about it as long as devices continue to run correctly (boot into LR mode).

Thanks!

Once JS is initially setup the database of info is stored, there is no "procedure" after that to switch back and forth other than click the button and reboot. So it is pretty safe to switch back and forth if needed while all the bugs get worked out.

The "boot" mode is actually just the pairing mode. Once a device is paired, SmartStart is out of the picture and not needed anymore unless you have to pair it again.

does this even work with new app? I upgraded to a new hub and none of my zooz devices will work.

Yes this app still works on the current platform.

Did you migrate to a new hub? You may want to start a new post unless it you have a question or issues specifically related to this app.

I scan it thru app and nothing happens. screen just act like nothing happens. What I'm I doing wrong?

Make sure you have the updated mobile app version 2.1 (green background icon).

You may also need to back out of the list in the mobile app and go back in to see the scanned code show up.

I have 2.1.0 and when I scan DSK it does nothing after reading it. I have reinstalled and also smartstart mulitple times

This sounds like more of an issue with the Hubitat mobile app, not Jeff's SmartStart app here for the Hubitat hub -- if true, it would more beneficial to start a new thread and tag it as a Mobile issue to get the best eyes on it.

If you go that route, I'd encourage adding more helpful information... For example, you said earlier that you upgraded your hub and none of your Zooz devices work -- were they working fine before the migration? What made you think that an issue with SmartStart may be the issue with them not working?

Are the devices you're trying to add brand-new or the ones that are not working?
If they are the non-working ones, did you exclude them first? When you scan the QR code using the mobile app, you say "nothing happens" -- do you mean there is no scan activity at all, like it's not even recognizing that a QR is in view? Or something else?

I started a new thread, but hear is my issue. I have tried a new zooz switch also. All of my devices were working fine on my C7. I just wanted to upgrade so I could take advantage of the longer range using the 800 Zwave instead of the 700 Zwave functionality. When I open the DSK scan on the Androi hubitat app it reads the code and closes. Then nohting happens and will sit there like nothing has happent. I can scan the code over and over and nothing happens.

Possibly a bug in the Hubitat mobile app, has nothing to do with this third part app that gets installed on the hub. This is just to manage the info after you scan it.

I replied to your other post: Smartstart not working in andrio app. Please Helps
