[APP] SmartStart Manager for Z-Wave (Long Range support)

the only way I could get it to install non LR was if I installed via SS on my laptop. When I tried SS on my phone it still installed LR.

No doubt user error someplace.

When you scan the QR code it will default to LR boot mode, if you want mesh you have to edit the boot mode BEFORE you power up the device. I assume when you say you did it on the laptop you used my app and either manually keyed in the DSK or edited the boot mode after scanning the code?

I did, but now I'm wondering if I didn't save the selection....I think this may have been a limitation of my older phone....smaller screen and couldn't scroll down....is there a "save" button at the bottom I couldn't access?

exactly....manually entered it.

I guess going forward, I could do the phone camera method to do the easy QR code scan, adn then on the laptop edit the boot mode that way all before powering up the device.

Or I could use my iPad with a larger screen so I could access the assumed "save" button I coudn't see.

This is as far down the screen I’m able to see. I can’t scroll down either.

Yes there is a save button at the bottom that I guess you cannot see or access.

I would scan the QR code in, and then make edits with this app. The mobile app originally had all sorts of issues making edits, not sure if all that was fixed or not. I trust my app more. I only use the mobile app to scan the QR code.

Not the first time I've run into a problem having one of the small screen iPhones.

I'll just note to use an iPad for future installs. Easy peasy.

Must say, besides that little hic-cup.......wow, does SS make adding devices easy! Well done.

Yeah thats what I keep trying to tell people, I have been using it for a while, before LR required it. SS is getting more attention now due to LR requiring it.

I have nothing to do with SS itself or making it work on the hub other than this app I created. It was mainly so we had a way to maintain the SS list from somewhere other than the mobile app. Also so you could disable and backup entries.

A post was split to a new topic: SmartStart app issue

Since the app issue wiped the Manager DB do I have to remove the switch to manually enter the DSK? I don't see anything like it in the Device Info. I didn't realized there was a backup function when I first used the app. :frowning:

That switch is a pain. I actually got an electrician to modify the box and cram it in while he was here doing something else.
If I ever win the lottery I'm building a house with massive electrical boxes not made of steel.

Remove it from what?
I am not really clear on what you are asking.

I have my one LR device missing from the SmartStart Manager so the list is blank.
You can manually add the DSK.
What I'm asking is that number only hard coded on the switch body?
If so, I have to physically remove the switch from the wall box.
I was hoping that number might be accessible from the hub itself so I could just copy and paste.

The full DSK may or may not be on the switch itself. Often due to limited space you just get the QR code with the PIN only (first 5). The QR could then of course just be scanned.

You should also have gotten the QR code in the box or manual somewhere as a separate reference for it.

The code is not available from the hub anywhere other than the Smart Start list.

Also, there is no reason to add it back into SS unless you plan on excluding and re-pairing the device. It is not used for anything other than initial pairing.

Thanks, that's what I figured - location of the code.
I'm the king of recycling so box long gone.
In earlier readings I remember it was recommended to keep this list for future use so I was just contemplating making it match the current hub config.
