Smartstart not working in andrio app. Please Helps

I have a bought C8 a to migrate to and I have 2 ZooZ devices that I have tried to setup on it. I have also tried to add a new zooz switch and that doesn't work either. When I go the the add device on the Andriod hubitat app I can select (Add SamrStart Devices). Then I can scan the DSK code and camera closes and nothing happens. Please help I'm not sure if my New Hubitat is bad or something is no configured correctly.

What version of the mobile app do you have (should be found in the app settings)
What version of the hub platform/firmware is running on the hub?

You might want to try joining the Android beta app as well to see if it is fixed there:
[BETA RELEASE] New Hubitat Mobile App available in Google Play for Android (version 2.0)

@danabw I know you use Android, have you tried to scan any SmartStart codes recently? Can anyone confirm if it works?

hubitat version is 2.4.1.157.
Mobile app is 2.1.0.
This is the first time I have used smart start. I have only added device thru hubitat add devices in the past for zwave on my old c7.

Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app? When you run it the first time pay attention to any permissions it asks for, you need to accept all the permissions.

Also it might help to know what model mobile device you have, and what Android OS it is running.

I assume you are trying to add these new devices as Long Range? Otherwise for normal mesh mode you can use the regular inclusion. I do prefer SmartStart even for normal inclusion myself because it is easier but Mesh inclusion can always be done directly on the hub if you need to.

I have re installed mobile program . I have reinstalled smartstart manager and also tried after factory resetting my c-8 device. I cannot get them to even work with mesh thru normal adding device. they will work when doing exclusion, but never work with inclusion. tonight I'm going to hook my c-7 back up and see if I can get them to work on that hub. If they work maybe I got a bad c8.

It seems like there has been am uptick of bad z-wave radios for some reason (normal number is 0, typically not an issue). If the radio is offline that could also be why the SmartStart wont work. This would make sense at this point with everything you have said (other than exclusion actually working).

Shut down hub and unplug for 30 seconds, then plug back in, this will allow the radios to fully shut down and restart.

Please try both of these endpoints:
(To use you put your Hub IP in there where indicated)

  • http://YOUR.HUB.IP/hub/zwaveVersion - This one will either show version info or TIME OUT if the radio is offline.
  • http://YOUR.HUB.IP/hub/zwave/healthStatus - New for 2.4.1, this should show true or false telling you if the zwave radio is OK or not.

One other way to tell if on the z-wave details page if the radio is offline there will be a "Update Firmware" button even though there is no update.

If radio is dead submit a warranty claim: Warranty – Hubitat Support
You can give them a link to this thread to show what you tried.

Oh one other thing I thought of, since you said exclusion works, maybe the radio is working in a limited fashion. What is your power source for the hub? See below info:

Just realized you also mentioned migration up above, did you already attempt migration from the C7 to the new hub? If so, are your devices you migrated listed in the zwave details page?

If the migration was able to move the zwave radio data over and the devices show up then your radio is probably fine and the issue might be something else.

It's been months since I've done any SmartStart, so can't help unfortunately...

I have moved it to my office and used supplied power for USB C. I can not get inclusion to work either way. I factory reset hub and tried after that. Nothing has worked. i did verify the zwave is on with the IP status check.

Also I put my c-7 back on my network and I was able to get them to do inclusion on that hub. I have submit a warranty replacement . thanks for all your help .
