You're not going crazy -- I recall rumors of Apple going to 1.4 in some os26 beta discussions, but it doesn't seem like they're ready to make the jump yet.
Yeah, looks like one device that I'm pretty sure actually did update the 1.4 is the [IKEA Dirigera hub.](Ikea wants to unify your home Thread network | Matter Alpha Ikea wants to unify your home Thread network | Matter Alpha)
Ahhh!!! So it looks like maybe in v1.4 we actually can have user involvement in sharing credentials between systems!
Good stuff, and nice job bringing this topic back on the subject of IKEA devices! ![]()
LOL, we had wandered just a little far afield. ![]()
Wish I hadn’t seen this thread (no pun intended). Ended up ordering several devices to get over $35 for shipping. They ship to my local Walgreens.
If I understand right, once I add them to Apple I should be able to generate a code to add them to HE? Just like any other matter device?
This forum is full of quicksand... ![]()
Yup - they are Matter over Thread, so once you commission them w/an Apple (or Alexa or Google Home Thread-capable device) you can then add them to HE (get the pairing code for HE from the comissioning device).
See important note from Ogie below on which Apple devices do Thread.
Yes, as long as you have an AppleTV4K (Gen 2 or Gen3 with Ethernet) or a HomePod Mini (or HomePod Gen 2). These are the Apple devices that have a Thread radio in them.
FWIW, the somewhat unreliable ChatGPT said that if my Apple TV4K was upgraded to 26.2, it would have Thread 1.4. After I upgraded, it still said 1.3, which ChatGPT claimed was because Apple is known for reporting minimum compatible version rather than what it actually was capable of, and that I should use XCode on a Mac to get diagnostic logs. That's when I decided I'd spent too much time on this. Although .. I do see a beta version of 26.* available so ...
As mentioned earlier in this thread, 1.4 is not available in os26 (prod or beta)
Apple TV and several HomePod Mini’s (probably too many
)
I really don’t know what I am going to use them for but for about 7 bucks each hard to pass up.
I just ordered a lamp and needed to spend a few dollars more to enable shipping. I added one of these energy monitoring outlets to my order and I really like it. Small, responsive and best of all, it's not Matter.

Wish I had ordered a few more. No IKEA on the island and they don't typically ship here. I caught one of the rare windows where they would ship to me for just $9. When I tried to order more, the option isn't available, regardless of the amount in my cart.
I allready have a bunch of zigbee never used plugs, bulbs, and buttons from Ikea sitting in a bin.
And now they are taunting me with their Thread stuff. ![]()
I'm still happy with Zigbee. The Thread I have tried has been very dissapointing. Maybe it's the Apple TV 4K that's the issue? ![]()
Indeed. The 26.3 beta still reports 1.3. Supposedly, it's all there in 26.2 prod but not yet enabled. In fairness to those (like ChatGPT) that thought it was, MacRumors reported in June that it would be.
I have one of these, grabbed it a couple weeks ago when the wife and I were at IKEA for something else. Also like it - compact form-factor and has been reliable.

... there’s still quite a bit of work to be done before IKEA Matter over Thread devices become truly usable in HE ...
Wow...thanks for all the testing/details, appreciate it.
That seems extremely evident. Hopefully the steps to get things working are not too difficult.
What is MAB?
Refers to this in his post:
I've had two Myggspray motion detectors in operation for two weeks. Both work with the Hubitat Matter Motion driver, however, only the motion is detected. Neither the battery status nor the light intensity is reported. So let's hope for future updates to the Hubitat driver or new drivers from the community.
