Sengled Button controller unsupported

Why isn't Sengled button contoller supported? What four button controller is, and, with 80% true (ie it works a lot, bigly)?

What leads you to believe it isn't supported?

Thank you for asking. Please disregard and help me kill this thread. I am an idiot.

Hubitat is a well structured, highly developed eco but being a dummy .. I give up and will return the C-8.

The Sengled zigbee leds are supported. When I did get TWO Sengled Zigbee Four button controller registered first day ! The Hubitat app devices tab told me it was un supported.

The Hubitat app pointed me : My Sengled Buttons are unsupported

I had initial success but I have had zero luck following. Obviously, me.

In my home I must have a thousand bucks in Sengled so I hoped my little Sengled zigbee buttons would integrate.

That all said .. I might keep this dynamic Hubitat for all my multi leds .. my sengled PIR works! My sengled contacts .. if I was made aware of a very good button controller .. not four button but an press-hold-double and off

thankyou top contributor

This does not mean the device is totally unsupported. It means the app does not support displaying anything for it in is current state. You may just need to change the driver to get it working.

Tagging @bobbyD @moncho1138 because this is a constant point of confusion with users with the app.

oooo ... thanks !

If you have time, any suggestions .. what might changing the driver actually mean? I would LOVE to change a driver but you know .. I work (barely) by a ask google mindset. I didn't read documentation ! Nor about drivers.

I just have a feeling .. the Sengled is proprietary .. Hubitat limited as to access to Sengled but I am old .. (ha) I use android and windows so ... I am screwbydood to begin with.

Thank you again. I have googled hubitat device drivers. It IS well documented if users like me would bother to R.T.M.

Thanks for your assistance. Hope myself to contribute success story

I would try this driver.

jtp thanks for your help. I read the 'instructions' per the [show] link and it says:

Sengled Button Controller
Exclude instructions

  1. From the device's details page, select Remove Device, then Remove.

Looks not exactly like an explicit driver but rather instructions to delete, destruct and destroy Sengled (smart) Button controller

Before I go, I went back to my Sengled hub APP and deleted this zha controller from that mesh .. and again in Hubitat it was found but did not complete register. Even read some Sengled LEDs might interfere with ADDs .. powered them off etc. Retry, fail.

Tried the other pairing options (Hubitat is great!) .. nada

I suppose I could try powering off the Sengled Hubs (2) but I only have a few years left in my life to muck around with getting zigbee hookups !

My experience is Sengled Smart Button Controllers are close to compatible I mean it worked once, ate batteries in 8 hours ... never got it to work again.

I have (12) $25 Sengled Smart button (dimming) controllers. I guess I would consider another $300 zigbee button controller investment but I'm not aware of a reliable controller (thats another question)

Thank you boss, good help my friend

I think we would need to know the exact model of the product to give any other options. Should be on a sticker on the device somewhere. It is possible that it is using protocols not supported by Hubitat.

Since Zigbee is more of an open protocol sometimes vendors design a device to only be used on their own specific Zigbee hub. Sometimes in those cases the device may not be able to easily pair or work correctly on other hubs. Most devices that follow the actual Zigbee standards will work good on Hubitat, other devices will have mixed results, some work fine, others do not.

Tried embedding a jpg but was, denied. I'll try in a separate post

Extreme support! Had a thought I might use my other smart home switches: Govee but it is ... wi-fi, wasn't expecting everything.

If any luck with Sengled button would be amazing!

Any button controllers recommended by Hubitat ? Cheers

For Images:

Typically any Z-wave device should work out of the box with the generic driver included on Hubitat. Z-wave devices will depend on your country since they use different frequencies in some countries. If you are in USA the ZEN37 is one that can work and have a specialized driver I created. [DRIVER] Zooz ZEN37 Wall Remote

Button devices for Zigbee seem to be all over the place for reasons mentioned above.

This might be a good place to start for Zigbee.

HUBITAT Support rocks a$$ !!! Thanks for all your attention.

Sengled button controller works! > using a fresh never Hubbitized switch!

First thank you for pointing me to the HPM. I've downloaded the package but before doing HPM fix, I initialized a Sengled switch never implemented by Hubitat and as before it works! cool !

So in my whine earlier, after several Sengled button full resets & all... I even cleared Hubitat APP cache.., is it possible I or Sengled is leaving dust to interfere with repeated initializations?

Maybe I need to pull the battery from Sengled button switch as Sengled resets may be clearing only data Sengled uses.

I am happy this Sengled switch worked. My thread title is incorrect, Sengled switches are (obviously) supported by Hubitat.

Before I launch HPM I'll pull battery from my failed Sengled Switch for 15 minutes, go battery & perform Sengled reset & attempt Hubitat again.

Just FYI I don't work for Hubitat, just a helpful user.

For HPM - you will only want that if you dive into custom drivers. The page I linked to above is for Tuya programmed devices which go under all sorts of different brands.

As for resetting your devices, not totally sure. Usually for Zigbee there is a button you hold down which will reset and put them back into paring mode. Sometimes you can find more info searching for instruction or a manual using the model number.

Jeff ... helpful user .. maan the best guys.

Would you know how I use custom drivers ( going back to the top of your help). I installed the package, added the Tuya Scene driver but don't see it when picking a new zigbee device.

Pulling the battery 15min to clear this device (in addition to Sengled reset) still fails to initialize after being identified as a zigbee device.

Thanks Jeff

You won’t want to use that Tuya driver on your Sengled devices. I pointed you there to see the tuya devices since you asked about which other devices could work.

You don’t pick the driver at pairing. You can change it afterwards on the device info page.

yes I learned a LOT by you today.

I wondered why that offline Sengled switch worked this afternoon.

It appears, even while Hubitat UI warns us little end users .. do not (hit browser back) and do not (pull net cable before shutting ethernet down) and other do-nots meticulously placed to advise .. Hubitat database may be mucked if care isn't taken.

I deregistered hub, reset zwave zigbee, deleted backup, and soft reset. Started from scratch again and the Sengled button controllers are flawless with defaults.

I have a feeling in the DOCs .. a preface exists that while Hubitat has many tools to keep running well .. be aware the enduser can corrupt enduser tables. Never hit backkey ... etc.

Pass thanks to all who may have input on todays Sengled mess.

Wanted to have this thread closed, Sengled button controllers work great by Hubitat default driver (generic I'm guesssing). I indeed corrupted my Hubitat database(s). I did not read community pin notes to follow basic steps and instead .. went smash mouth.

I'm lucky to come into Hubitat in 2025 some 4-5 years into its development. This is the wrong place to comment but who ever (and all) built this eco .. many many thanks. While Sengled, HUE and Samsung have well paid engineers & programmers in my experience, at least Sengled is build to avoid errors with highly restricted options.

We love options
Thanks Jeff for, whew.. making me a Hubitat believer, So much time has been put into documentation .. Top Contributor maaan, award a medal
