[RELEASE] Linptech/Moes 24Ghz Presence Sensor ES1 ( TS0225 _TZ3218_awarhusb ) drivers

Thanks that's really helpful. Yeah not going to fly in my house. You're a lucky man with your wife's reactions. :slightly_smiling_face: Mine is definitely at the picky end of the spectrum.

I'm hopeful the new intervention of simply changing the setting will solve the problems with the Linptech. I've already solved the problem by simply power cycling, but it'll be a little less cluttered at the outlets if I can remove the small plugs I'm using power cycle them.

I'm LOL, we are both way to far into this rabbit hole to quibble about $10+. I suspect the bigger issue is hiding from our significant others our inexplicable home automation addiction.

What addiction? ~~ I must get home to automate something I just thought of. ~~

OK, sorry to say, but had one of my Linptech's stop reporting motion. It stopped reporting last night, noticed when lights didn't go off when we were at the other end of the house.

It does report "Online" in spite of getting stuck reporting Active and never changing:

So at least for me this attempt at changing sensitivity settings is not a solution to the Linptechs stopping reporting after a while... :frowning:

I'll go back to power cycling weekly... @kkossev, if you have any other suggestions I'm happy to start another test.

I feel like routine reboots do help, but my Linptech (I just have one) still gets balled up once in a while. I'm just chalking it up as the price to pay with an inexpensive no-name sensor. That's not intended as a dis to Linptech, it's just the plain truth of things. If this was a Hue sensor, my expectations would be higher.

I did add a motion-kill command to the bottom-tap action of our bathroom's Blue switch -- that's at least given us an easy (and intuitive) way to re-cage it when it gets stuck.

Kasa wifi plug local on Hubitat. 2 pack $10.99, Amazon, momentary power cycle a couple times a week. No Limptech/Moes drop outs since purchased last February. Not how it should work but it is reliable.

If anyone has a Tuya Matter Gateway (Zemismart, Moes, Tuya unbranded..), it will be interesting to know whether there are any similar problems when the device is paired to the Tuya hub.

The HE inbuilt 'Generic Matter Bridge' driver should work OK with the Tuya Matter GWs.

I have 8 Linptech sensors connected to a Zemismart hub which bridges to HE via the Matter Advanced Bridge. All 8 require power recycling regularly, or they lock up around 3-4 weeks. Since power recycling them weekly (a few months now), none have locked up.

Thanks for the feedback!

So I guess the "good news" is that this isn't Hubitat's fault.

Wonder if we bombarded Linptech team w/feedback if they would do anything...they have to be able to easily replicate this.

hey just curious, what is your power cycle method? is it a rule? or do you have them all connected to smart switches?

I have them all connected to smart switches, which I recycle weekly (off for 5 seconds, then back on). The smart switches are connected directly to HE, unlike the Linptech sensors that connect via Zemismart.

I have them on these tiny Wi-Fi plugs and use a GH routine to cycle them weekly at 5am.

They show as no longer available on Amazon for some reason but I think this is the same plug. There is a newrer Zigbee version but that has been seen to be problemmatic for some users in dicussions here.

I set up the routine in GH as they integrate w/Google directly but don't (AFAIK) have a Hubitat integration...

I use the Zigbee versions for some of the Linptechs, while using Sengled plugs and a Zigbee power strip for the others. (No issues with any of the USB switches, plugs, or power strip.)

Yeah, it seems some get issues w/their Zigbee mesh/hub using them, others (maybe most?) are fine. I have several extra of the Wi-Fi versions around so haven't tried the new Zigbee version yet.

I will say that they may messed with some Sengled bulbs, but I'm not entirely sure if that's true causation or conspiracy theory on my part  I moved the Sonoff USB plugs to a different hub, where they have not interfered with the Zigbee devices. (And the bulbs are happier.)

For me it doesn't make any sense to use any extra hardware for "fixing" this Linptech lockup problem. I don't mind to use extra rule but this doesn't work. My real fix is to replace Linptech with MS600 (all 4 Linptech already replaced). MS600 sensors are WiFi Matter PIR/mmW combo sensors. They are a bit bulky and I am not happy with Matter. But it is better to have something working reliably (I hope this is a case).

What did you do with the 4 Linptechs? I could “watch them” for you at no charge. :innocent:

As of now 4 Linptech and 2 FP2 have status "wait for being trashed".
It is too soon to trash them right away. Who knows may be one day these toys (finally) could become useful.

I am not sure, I got your message. What did you mean by this?

He's offering to provide them a new home at his place, if you wanted to give them away.

I think several of us might put our hands up if it came to that...

Yep, offering to provide them a new home for the price of shipping.. Keep them out of a landfill.
