Thanks for the screenshots and confirming the details that you did.
The HE setup seems fine, from what I am seeing in your screenshots.
When I mentioned using the IP address, I should have mentioned that I was talking about your setup in the EcoWitt App on your mobile / tablet, not in the HE device. So on the EcoWitt setup, use the IP address of your HE hub. Also, make sure to leave the HE device configured as you showed in your screenshot for now, assuning the IP address you used there is the IP address of the EcoWitt Gateway. With this all in place, see if either sensor devices start appearing in HE, or at least some logs indicating the data is arriving at the HE hub.
Thanks for your input. Sensors are now showing up in HE. I was using the IP of the gateway in the Ecowitt app when I should have been using the He hubs IP.
Success! That fixed it, All devices are now in HE. Thanks for your help and for all the work you've done to make this device compatible.
Time to order more moisture sensors!
Does anyone here use the Ecowitt weather info to drive their sprinklers? Use rain event to turn off, soil sensors to drive watering length, etc
If so what HE apps and sprinkler controller do you use? Thanks
I was about to purchase a rain machine, but learned they went out of business. It seems the lack of subscriptions got ‘em. The downside of local control.
Well darn, that seems like it would do the trick. I’m running a gw2000 with a wittboy and some various other sensors all through this app.
It’s been great , I’ve been able to turn off internet access on the gw2000 and it’s all 100% local.
I’m moving to a new place in a now remote spot where I’ll be renting and will have spotty internet at best so I’m looking at using HE to automate an above ground semi permanent watering setup. The Ecowitt weather stuff is the perfect data stream and @kampto app recommendation seems to fit the bill, now I just gotta figure out the valves on a local activation basis
@sburke781 - I'm trying to add 2 new sensors (WN32 Outdoor Thermo-Hygro Sensors) to an existing gateway (WH1100). Is this sensor compatible with the drivers? I don't see it listed in the sensor map or sensor list in the data section, so just trying to see if these should work.
Yes its compatible it reads as the single outdoor temp, but No you can only have one wn32 in a system and it normally comes with it. If u want more use wn31 where u can have up to 8.
If you haven't done anything yet, here's my rule that I use. I also have another rule that logs rainfall from the Ecowitt Wittboy and sets the values to global variables (happy to share that rule as well) but you could just as easily use the totals provided by the rain station (my logging gives me more precision with a 3-day value), that's what you see in the conditions that prevent irrigation if rainfall is greater than certain amounts. Also includes notifications to let me know what the moisture of my different garden beds are before and after irrigation. Note that my irrigation is a single rotary sprinkler on a water line controlled by a normally closed solenoid that I control with a Z-Wave switch. Also, I have a well pump that I keep turned off when I'm not home (not my primary residence), so that's why I have it turning on and off. Hope it's helpful. Happy to export/share it with you if you want.
In directly, yes. Not so much soil sensors though. I have a Rachio Irrigation Controller. I have added my Ecowitt WS90 to Weather Underground and have set the Rachio to pull that weather conditions and forecast from my site there. Rachio on its own does a pretty good job of calculating soil moisture, so I have not really considered using the soil moisture sensor in my lawns, beside I figure it would be too much up a hassle to pull them all up everytime i mow.
This is perfect thanks!! I just moved and I’m getting everything reset up. This new place has zero irrigation so I ran and buried hose to three different zones that I’ll control with a sonoff zigbee valve.
I’m excited to get this working so I can put less brain bytes into the lawn.!
I didn't se;e a category for equipment deals so I'll put this here since it's an add-on to the Ecowitt system.
The WH57 Lightning detector and enclosure are on Amazon for $50 a bit cheaper than most other sites.
Today I did an Ecowitt search and two listings for this came up. The one for $50 (3 left) and another for $40 for pre-order I came back later and this listing was gone. I pulled the link from history and you can still pre-order for $40 if anyone is interested.
