Hi, I have 4 ZSE44 units, all to be installed in the same room. I followed the LR pairing instructions from Zooz: first installing the SmartStart app viz HPM, and then scanning the code from the device in the hubitat 2.0 app on the add->smartstart screen. It shows up as pending, then I remove the battery paper to turn the device on. For 2 of the 4 of my ZSE44s, it worked fine - a device was created and the smtartstart screen/app both show it paired and polling.
For the other 2, which are in the same room (all 4 are in the same room, in different parts of the room) - it did not work. I tried normal inclusion, I tried exclusion, and no matter what I do I cannot get them fully paired. I also tried factory reset and still no luck. Specifically, here's where I stand on these:
-
One seemed to pair PART of the way. It shows "included" and has a node, but there is no device name, security, or mode indicated in SmartStart Manager. I cannot get the device to be created, I cannot get it to exclude to start over. If I delete from SmartStart and re-scan the QR, it just adds it again with the same status (included) and Node.
-
For the other one that fails, it just sits in "not included" and "pending" for node. I cannot get anything to work with it, including after a factory reset.
Any ideas from anyone? Tx
Try shutting down the hub, and removing power for about 10-15 seconds. When the hub powers up, retry your pairing.
Shut down hub and unplug for 30 seconds. After booting back up if the devices are powered up they should join with SmartStart shortly after.
Or
I had tried maybe 10 different things, but this worked the first time for all remaining sensors, THANK YOU!
Seems like there are some clear bugs that need ironing out in this process, yea? Shouldn't be needing to reboot the hub like that IMO.
I have never had to do that whole process myself but I wrote it up as the most extreme instructions to ensure everything is setup for success.
Usually at most I would maybe have to reboot or shut down the hub just to get the zwave radio booted up clean.
Actually have some more follow ups.
- One of the 2 I paired yesterday is polling fine, every 4 hours or so.
- The 2nd of the 2 I paired yesterday has not polled since it's onboarding, 24 hours ago. Force refresh doesn't add new events/data.
When I go to the commands page, I see this in the "INFO" section in state variables:
*** Sensor Info Refresh *** Waiting for device to wake up. Quickly press the internal button 4 times to wake the device.
- First, Is this typical for these sensors? I don't want to have to monitor connectivity of these.
- Second question - I like the 4 hour cadence by default, but sometimes I want it to report every 5 minutes for an hour or so. Is there a way to trigger a change like that through something like webcore? "Press this button to poll faster for the next X hours, then go back to 4 hour cadence." or something. I can open a new thread for this one if it's not trivial.
Thanks!
There is no polling, the device wakes up by itself and sends events as needed per the configuration. Sounds like one of them may not have actually paired all the way. Turn on debug or trace logging for that one, wake it up and watch the logs.
Check the preferences if you want to adjust how often they report.
There is no way to adjust sleepy z-wave battery devices settings on the fly. You can only send it commands when it wakes up.
