Zooz Zen14 not pairing

Platform version: 2.3.9.201
Hardware version: C-8 Pro

I’ve been trying to pair the Zooz Zen14 outdoor dual plug for the past 3 days with no luck.
I can’t figure out how the smart starting supposed to work. It shows
Included in the app, however I never see a device listed in the device page.
I’ve also set it to no security.

When pairing manually through the wave include, it sees the unit and I select without security and the include timer eventually gets to zero and says there may have been an issue.
I’ve reset the plug and tried again, but the only way to get the interface to see it again is to reboot the hub.

I was able to pair mine today by hitting the button 3 times putting it in to exclusion mode. I am assuming there was an update and the instructions were not updated 3 button presses are now inclusion mode?

Can you post a screenshot of your full Z-wave Details page (in Settings) -- it would be helpful to confirm if any ghosts have been created or are otherwise present.

You should use either SmartStart or traditonal pairing, but don't try to use both on the same device.

When you say "no security", do you mean "S0" or just not using S2? S2 used to be a bit wonky in its early days, but it's a solid & safe choice these days. I use S2 on all of my ZW devices.

I've tried with all of the S Settings within smart start. i've also tried with the zwave pairing to select both no security and with security entering in the 5 digit code from the device.
I also attempted to run a wave repair, and that took 2.5 hours and ultimately cause a lot of my other devices to start having problems

The entries with a Discover button are the ones to worry about -- they are likely all ghosts, and that's definitely enough of them to mess up your mesh pretty bad.

This guide is the most comprehensive info on ghost removal -- I'd start here. Since many of yours have a high neighbor count, I don't think there's any good chance you can shed them without using a stick, but I'd defer to other users here who have more ghostbusting experience than I do.

Those 2 LR entries are likely ghosts too, but we so far don't have any known way to deal with LR ghosts. On the plus side, those shouldn't actually hurt anything since they are not in your mesh.

SmartStart (SS) is required to pair LR devices, and is optional to use for pairing non-LR 800-series and 700-series ZW devices. If you use SS, I highly recommend @jtp10181's excellent SS management app.

Get rid of as many of those ghost nodes as your can.

Shut down and unplug hub for 30 seconds and then start up again, to restart the radios.

Try pairing the device indoors closer to the hub. You can relocate it after pairing.

unfortunately all my attempts to remove what I believe are ghost devices (though none of mine in wave details have a blank route) are met with the log message of wave busy warning after pressing refresh. tried a dozen times with no change. the SS management app doesn't seem to find anything to manage. I have devices that show status on physical turn on/off at the switch and respond correspondingly in the dashboard, however when attempting to control them from the dashboard, I get no response to the device. unless there is something else, I may just factory reset this hub and start over. yes it's 40ish devices and 15 basic routines, but even before attempting to add this ZEN14 outlet, I was having issues with my zooz17 garage door relay from working (ever since I migrated from a C3 to the C8Pro 5 months ago.

Usually a shut down and remove power for 30 seconds will clear that up.

Sometimes when you try to remove one of the dead/ghost nodes it will jam up the radio and you have to shut down and restart to try another one.

All those dead nodes is possibly what is causing the pairing and other issues.

It might be easiest to just do a reset as you said. If you have any complex rules you want to keep you can export individual rules, or screenshot them and rebuild afterwards.

thanks, yes I tried the shutdown, power removal and restart with no success.
