The new Tuya Human Presence Sensors ( TS0225 _TZE200_hl0ss9oa _TZE200_2aaelwxk) have actually 5.8GHz modules inside

BTW, these two new models TS0225 are ‘semi-compatible’ with the ZCL standards.
They are sending the motion active/inactive and the illuminance also using the standard Zigbee clusters. The configuration parameters are Tuya-specific however.

So these may have the basic functionality working using HE inbuilt generic Zigbee drivers.

I don't see any settings for minimum distance for macro motion, small, or static detection in my Tuya hub. Just sensitivity and max distance. I guess this model does not have those minimum distance settings at all. I thought the seller listing said it did. Their description was incorrect? Shocker! I wonder what the 24 GHz mini they're sending me will have options-wise. Their description for that one is a mix of several sensors.

It has option for false motion detection 0-20. Is that seconds?

Are you referring to the options that you see on Smart Life mobile app for 2AAELWXK ?

Yes. It has the option for false motion detection 0-20. Is that seconds?

The answer can be found if you make iot.tuya.com account and follow the instructions in the "FIND TUYA DATA POINTS | ZIGBEE2MQTT" link above.

So it may be either Smart Life is not showing all the settable parameters, or the Tuya GW is sending to the Tuya Cloud 'data points' definitions that are really not implemented.

And yes, a lot of AE sellers descriptptions are a mix of different devices screenshots - very confusing ..

The latest driver version collects statistics for all Tuya 'Data Points' that were reported.

From your screenshot :

For example, the last item in the list meaning is :

  • 109 - Tuya Data Point number
  • 8 - last received value
  • 1 - data type ( 4 byte integer )
  • 4 - how many times this DP was sent by the device

The way these Data Points are decided is defined inside the driver code 'Device Profiles'

device profile

So in this example, DP=109 is the 'staticDetectionSensitivity' and its value is 8.

I don't see such an option on your screenshot?

Sorry pasted the wrong one. Here it is. I got to the point where it states run this code from the instructions above. I am not sure where or what to do from there.

Good work. I asked for refunds on two devices from two different sellers. One was rejected by Aliexpress. I guess the seller just offloads the process to Aliexpress and Aliexpress just auto-denies the refund and doesn't give any response other than denied. The other seller never responded so they refunded the 20 bucks. So I guess I got half my money back on average.

thanks that fixed those issues.. now playing with settings as getting false positive alarms.. feel it is going through wall getting me moving in other room.

still getting motion even though no one anywhere near the room and i was two rooms away.. can you reocmmned settngs to resolve the issue.

Reduce the sensitivity parameters..

As you have a Tuya GW, probably the best approach will be to use it and experiment with the settings from Smart Life.

Then set the same parameters in HE.

You can also experiment placing some kind of metal shield behind the sensor.

I don’t have similar problems, because where I live all house walls are made of a solid thick material…

not using tuya gw... i tried it with a sensor and was unreliable. have sensitivity for all 3 types down to 2 now.. 6 still had false positives..

Are there any electronic devices or cables close to the sensor?

Electromagnetic fields are affecting these sensors somehow.. including Aqara FP1.

Also, noisy power supply bricks could be a problem.

Try reducing the max distance to a distance that is a foot shorter than the wall directly opposite the sensor.

The ones I have that are 5.8ghz see motion through drywall no problem.

2 seems to still work when i go in the room and not have false positives. Distance settings didnt seem to help. I do have a camera near it. Like 3 ft away.

The round - shaped radar has 3 commands - micro movement test, small movement test, large moves test or similar… when the command is sent , you should see a counter from 1 to 300 seconds .

The room needs to be free of moving objects when the tests are running..

Does this function work for the square radar?

Not sur which setting fixed it. I.will experiement with all 3

Yes, it would have shown before for @TJBurton I have it on driver version 1.4.4 2023/08/18 10:43 PM

No problem @JumpJump thanks for responding. I see from your tear down this device is actually a 24Ghz device BUT I notice the model registers as TS0601 and not TS0225. My understanding from following this thread is that the TS0601 model has the ‘spammy’ firmware but the TS0225 model firmware is not as spammy on the ZigBee network (@kkossev is this the correct understanding?) From your Hubitat ZigBee connection are you able to check whether it is sending distance measurements every second or so (spammy), or if it is not so spammy. Thanks in advance for this feedback, much appreciated. I’m trying to tick the boxes for a non-spammy, ceiling mount, 24Ghz sensor with rear power connection. Not easy to find apparently.

My other option is to use the Linptech/MOES sensor (49.5mm diameter)

and then use a GU10 (50mm diameter) downlight fixture to mount the sensor into the ceiling so the usb-c connector on its side can still be plugged in above the mounting height.

With your experiences so far with these mmWave human presence sensors, which way would you go?
