Every once in a while I get to thinking, I wonder when Hubitat will have a new box for sale, and I check the forum and then find something else interesting to read... Tonight was the night! Super excited to replace my hardware (which already does everything I need it to).... but still want to upgrade!
Please god no to any of that.
Use the right tool for the right job. A leatherman can be handy in a pinch, but it's never a better tool than its standalone counterpart.
Mark my words the hub of the future will not just be a hub. Innovate or get left behind. I forsee the next few years the hubs will be those things listed above or tv's or other such devices.
Samsung has tried this already, although I’m not sure how successfully.
Like this kickass refrigerator?
Nothing says wave of the future like a fridge with connectivity issues.
Except a hacked fridge that plays porn. PornHub shown on £2,000 Samsung fridge as John Lewis customers gobsmacked
Or one with unpatched vulnerabilities. Samsung Smart Refrigerator Hacked, Left Gmail Login Credentials Vulnerable
Or fridge spambots. Smart Refrigerators Hacked to Send out Spam: Report
Actually that is a future I wouldn’t mind living in.
By the way, try telling someone from 1960 that their fridge can play porn! Or someone from 1990 that their fridge can get hacked. Those are all phrases that shouldn't be in the same sentence.
That might be TMI when Grandma visits though. Or worse yet, on Grandpa's fridge.
Although Samsung probably made wrong choices in that case, Homey seems to have thought out that idea of "satellite". As well, that's a clever idea to have remote satellites to improve local control. Or to "distribute" control to locals in the house.
I'm not saying that it's essential, I'm saying that it's a clever idea which may have some advantages in certain situations.
This makes me so happy, you have no idea. The whole reason I geared up to do external antenna mods. Probably still quite a while until it hits the market though.
Looks to be USB C or Barrel plug based on the amperage so just about any modern phone charger should work.
OMG OMG OMG!
Please, this.
Vera with their VeraSecure already dabbled into this many years ago, and I ended up using that $300 pos only as a uninterupted power supply with its 4 hour battery life for my 3 Hubitat Hubs.
Maybe it’ll be a lightning connector. It’s an Apple design, so it must be better.

Also wish they put in some sort of extra functionality ie android tv box, router, etc.
Oh no no no no! Separate hardware for separate things.
I bet this one will have matter.

Hallelujah! If anything, the C-7 taught me that I am no good at soldered PCBs.
