I have to admit, that I haven't read all the latest postings. After upgrading to 2.4.0.144 I noticed that the Member location in the OwnTracks app (same in HD+, included as HTML) works very unreliable and slow. I see very often the following
Yes, the issue is coming from a problem in .139-.144 of the Hub Beta Firmware. Use the diagnostic tool and roll back to .138 to fix this until it gets addressed in the new hub software.
Oh hmmm... I thought those were just offered to the Beta people. Not sure then!
It will work fine until you have a phone reporting more than 300 updates per hour. That is when the error occurs, and and the phone gets backed up with locations.
I had 143 installed....it was installed on Dec 25
Gift of Death.....
I'm not Gifted/Talented = "Beta" (jk)
Just a regular ......"joe"
I was lucky to rollback to a version i had saved on my hard drive folder. A version i know that was Solid. I Love OT......!
Hey @lpakula, these issues are affecting me as well, and I am not on the beta. I suspect others who are not on the beta might be in the same predicament. I realise I may not have made this clear in my previous post.
I sent a PM to gopher.ny about it, just as an FYI.
I'm the only user in my household using Owntracks at this point (wife keeps going back and forth on letting me install it on her phone, but that's another long story), and things are and have been working normally. I'm in the beta and have used Owntracks on every version of the 2.4.0 beta and 2.4.0 public releases. Frontend/Recorder also working normally, plotting accurately.
Samsung S21 running your custom build of the app. Currently on 2.4.0.144 platform version and 1.8.9 of Owntracks.
Owntracks logs my departure when I leave (walking or driving) and my presence when I return, and the rule I set up to turn a Ring camera on/off depending on Owntracks presence works consistently/accurately.
I know I'm special and all (though usually in the wrong way), but just wondering if there's a setting I have inadvertenly set that is allowing me to keep chugging along. I normally run w/completely "default/recommended" settings in Owntracks so would expect I would also have problems.
Is there some reason why my phone isn't doing this like pretty much everyone else's seems to be doing? Don't get me wrong, happy to be an outsider on this one...
"MY" Android phone had no problems either after the upgrade and reported everything from a recent trip to the store correctly.
However, my daughters iPhone, that's a different story. It is extremely loading down the hubitat hub and show 34k+ events in the device stats. No errors are posted in logs, but the lag time is extremely obvious.
Not sure. It might be if you are walking more than driving near home, then you get less updates. One of the settings is to switch to faster updates near home to allow automations to get timely indicators.
Just keep "being special" and all is good! (says the person who is also special in the wrong ways.... )
@lpakula One question. Due to the hickups with 2.4.0.144 I noticed one thing. I'm not sure if this is new and why this happens.
I have three OT devices. If they are not at home for two of them states detailed street information where the device is surfing around. The third one only shows 4 listings "has departed" and "has arrived/is present".
I don't know if I changed any settings or where I should change anything to get full information for the third device too,
Any ideas? Thanks!!!
Edit: I restarted the phone but without any changes.
Is it 100% certain that the problem is not in the actual Owntracks app and nothing to do with @lpakula's integration or Hubitat's update?
For example, I have my wife as a Friend and she will intermittently appear and disappear as a Friend. She is on an iPhone and I am on Android. However, the app on her phone is still sending locations to my Node Red Flow. It just seems to be one location behind sometimes.
Maybe this is driven by the HE 2.4.0.144 glitch or some current incompatibilities. I totally don't know. It was more the question if I messed something up on my end.
Maybe not the best time to ask such a question, since the system is quite "unstable" for some of us.
