[RELEASE] HD+ - Android Dashboard

There is a minor issue with version 1.0.2688. It was there before too, so I'm not sure in which version exactly it was introduced. But certainly it is not present on 1.0.2204, which unfortunately is the latest available for Amazon Fire HD devices.

Issue: the value used to be vertically aligned to the middle, but it is now more towards the top of the tile.
This is a custom tile with a single display value.
If I try to increase the font size it gets worse (second image)

Found a bug with the thermostat tile.
Pre .2680, the tile showed heating setpoint, actual, and cooling setpoint as my screencap shows.

Post .2680 and .2688 the heating and cooling setpoints are replaced with the actual unless I am changing the setpoints.

I have included screencaps of pre .2680 and post .2680 / .2688.
Is this normal for a thermostat tile now?
Thanks!

Yep, that's a bug. I hadn't tested that size and in auto mode

Thank you.
I wanted to make sure it wasn't something that I was doing incorrectly.

Thank you for all your hard work on this fantastic app!
Long Live HD+!!!!

The most weird thing started happening.

One of my HD+ dashboards is executing actions "by itself"!
It started on Monday when I was not home (nobody was), I got back and some lights were on, and the dashboard was showing a folder, which was not how I had left it.

Initially I thought someone had come in somehow, checked the door lock logs, nothing. I was very puzzled, then around half an hour later I saw it with my own eyes. I was looking at the tablet, with HD+ opened when it executed around 6 different actions very quickly, faster than a human being could have. Some actions were on tiles set to prompt and PIN, so some pop-up windows were left open.

It happened again twice in the following 40 minutes.

I switched off my Internet router for a couple of hours, researched about incoming connections on UniFi Gateway, and learned that they are blocked by default, a configuration that I didn't change.

I switched the Internet router on again, which got a different public IP address, and everything was fine until today, when again some actions were executed, this time it was more scary, the front door was unlocked! I was alone at home.

This Fire HD where the weirdness is going on is dedicated to HD+ dashboard, it is running for 2.5 years without previous issues, the only other app installed on it is "Keep Screen On Free".

I have a total of 5 Fire HD and 2 Android phones dedicated to dashboards, "Cloud Mode" is off on all of them, and only 1 has been affected by the problem (so far).

Any ideas?

That reminds me of a time years ago when I had a Wink Relay and a light turned on while we were in bed. I turned it off and it happened again a day or so later.. by that time I was really confused and wondering if someone had hacked in somehow. It turned out to be just a really old device and was registering phantom 'ghost' touches.

HD+ does log every command sent to the Hub so you should be able to identify every command it's sent over several days and check if any of them shouldn't have been sent.

There's no way that I can think of though that would cause the app to receive or send commands remotely like that.. but, yeah that does sound pretty scary so let me know what you find!

On a side-note I've got the app on some really old Fire tablets.. they've been running 12 hours a day for a few years now. I imagine leaving any device on for that long won't last forever and maybe ghost screen touches is an indicator of a device that's going?

I didn't know ghost touches were even a thing!

I couldn't find anything suspicious on the network logs, and definitely the 'ghost' commands were sent by the dashboard, they are registered on HD+ logs.

I've tried the first suggestion I found on the Internet: Reboot it
At least it seems that it is not the case of someone or something controlling the Fire HD remotely. That would scare me more than the "ghosts" touching it

Thanks for the insight and I'll let you know how this develops.

When I read your post on the issue my first thought was also “ghost touch”. It is for sure a thing. It happens for a variety of reasons such as damage to the screen or a dirty screen. My first action would be to do a good clean of the screen to see if that helps.

Any idea why I would get this error? Happened after a hub reboot while upgrading platform version. I'm up to date on your driver according to HPM. Hub is a C5.

What is that FollowMe tile? How are you tracking the presence in the specific location in the home?

I don't think I've had that happen but I do remember something about the oauth token that Google gives you only being valid for an hour or so.. so if the Hub was offline and not able to get a new token for a while maybe that could cause this?

Are you able to use that Authorize App button?

version 1.0.2692 (beta)

  • fix thermostat in auto mode and wide view
  • fix bug: changing themes doesn't refresh nav drawer
  • support Hub Information Driver V3 (shows sunrise/sunset by default)

Just a couple of small changes in this version:

should be fixed

fixed

Lastly, I added simple support for the Hub Information Driver. It just shows the sunrise and sunset by default. You also might want to change the sunrise date format too in the driver like I did below just to keep the text as large as possible.
20250502-1935PM-1

There's a lot more that could be done with this one but I remember someone asking about sunset support so I thought this would be a good starting point.

I don't see this one on my phone. I have a Custom tile with just a single text value and it's pretty close to vertically centered (I'll get a screenshot later).

In your case it almost seems like there's something displayed below the "2". When you go into Manage Display Items is there just a single attribute selected?

Yes, that button works. I ran it again, but it already said it was authorized.

We'll see what happens now. I did notice that there was an unusual error in the status field:

That error went away when I sent a test message via the Device Notification function (after I re-ran the Authorize). Maybe something happened when my hub was stuck last week in an overload condition.

Looking again at the device in the app I now see that since I sent the sucessful test message that the "null" that was showing up after my device name in the App is gone:

(There was the word "null" after the dash before.)

A single attribute was selected. I've added one more to test, then when I removed it, the text alignment went back to normal :man_shrugging:

My tablet hasn't received this update in the Play Store yet. Were you able to fix the folder divider line issue in the 2692 update?

I have tried to update HD+ from google play on 5 different tablets and the update is not listed in google play?
Does it take a while to be available?

I can't reproduce this one on my device. If I can figure out a way to reproduce I should be able to fix it
