[RE-RELEASE] EcoWitt and Wittboy Weather Stations And Sensors (Local)

After swapping out the AAs nothing changed in the ecowitt app. It was showing 2.3v yesterday and today, tho now it shows 2.28v so it is going down.

The old AAs were Duracell pro or something and they both checked on my tester completley full.

Try installing AA lithium batteries (non rechargeable), they are higher voltage (1.8 vs 1.5v) and when I got my weather station, the manual recommended them.

Did you press RESET after changing the batteries ??

I'm using Eneloops in my WS90

There’s a button on that!? … Had to work today so haven’t gotten around to changing batteries to lithium. But noticed this am the voltage went up to 2.74. But then dropped back down over time. Here are the battery graphs via the Ecowitt app. Today and over the course of this week.

Thats pretty low here is mine with energizer lithium

So got some lithiums today. Climbed up on the roof again and changed them and boom! The battery reading now reads 3.28v. So learned that the haptic battery array is the AA batteries. And that they need to be lithium’s tho upon install I used optimum Duracells with no issue.

@sburke781 I am setting up my Wittboy WS90 using the instructions on Github. I have the device registered and operational but my WS App (EcoWitt 1.1.40) does not have a Menu option from Devices. Is there a different app I should be using?

The WS View App and EcoWitt Apps are different, from what I understand, and the original notes for the driver were written when there was only the WS View App. I don't have a later model weather station, so have not used the EcoWitt app myself. Essentially you want to setup the data feed in the app, so if you look up the instructions for doing this in the EcoWitt manual / doco, that is what you want to use. Just make sure to check the details mentioned on GihHub. I will look at updating the notes on GitHub.

Thanks for the fast reply. I'll take a look and see what I can find. I was able to set up HE and it is Sensor sync pending

Hours later and still pending. I tried using the MAC vs IP but no luck. I added the optional port and directory information into the HE virtual gateway device but no change. I have to be missing something somewhere.

Oh, I should have clarified, you do need to setup the data feel in the EcoWitt App for the sensors to appear in HE.

The pending part that status is that the gateway device in HE needs the regular data feed in order to detect what sensors are paired with the gateway. The IP / MAC are important to make sure the data received by HE is directed to the virtual gateway device on HE, but does not initiate any contact with the physical EcoWitt device, it is all one-way communication from the physical EcoWitt gateway to HE.

Seems a little harder to find the instructions for setting up the data feed than I thought. Depending on the gateway, there can also be a self-hosted web front-end available, so that could be another option.

EDIT - Looking at the Quick Start Guide, Weather Services seems to be where you need to go and setup the Custom Data Feed:

Finally found these screens in the resident webpage for the hub. Entered data per the pix and then blew out and recreated the Virtual Wifi Gateway on HE. Waiting for some magic. Got these log entries so far:

should not need to use the ip address check stuff if the system is local that is only if it is remote through a ddns name.

Yeah, those logs all look fine. I expect the main thing now is to wait for the period of the Upload Interval.

I realized it after posting. It is deleted. Still nothing on the HE side.

Once you have updated the IP / MAC address to one of the values in the log, you will need to wait for the next set of data to come through. You could look at shortening the interval on the gateway to 60 seconds, even just while you are setting it up.

You lost me, I need to update the IP address in HE? I was using the MAC address for the Eco hub.

Post a screen shot of the settings in the ecowitt app as well as the setup screen in the hubitat device if u still are not getting data.
