Pool and Hot Tub Temperature

Hi, I am trying to find a floating pool thermostat that could integrate with HE. I just bought the Govee Life P1 with its hub (Did not receive the hub yet). Does anyone knows if it can integrate with HE.

My goal is to display the temperature on a dashboard

I use a Ecowitt pool floating sensor. There is a Ecowitt Hubitat integration

I haven't tried this, but maybe a possibilty?

Would you mind sharing the model number? Are you using the ecowitt gateway, which one?

It's pretty pricy

I use WN36 Pool Thermometer
With Gw2000 hub. I use ecowitt soil sensors and a weather station too.

Thanks, I just ordered it. I also ordered the WN34L (Wired) to see both. I opted for a GW1100 Gateway.

There are a few topics if you have a search.
A few of us use the Fibaro FGBS-222 and a DS18B20 probe.
I have a couple of these Z-Wave devices hooked to probes.
One goes to the pool from my garage next to the pool and one is in my fermenter to monitor brewing temps.
They are mains powered via a brick; I think the range is 12-30 VDC.
These things do a lot more than temp.

Nice device. I can use a wired temp sensor on the pool but in the hot tub the wire will be in the way so I am trying real hard to get a floating wireless. Once I get the Ecowitt I will post the results.

Curious on the battery life since it's not replaceable - without a hammer and some RTV.

My ecowitt has been in the pool for just over 2 years now and still going. The battery state is still “normal”

Well I have been through 4 thermometer with "replaceable" battery of 2 brand. 2 from La Crosse and 2 generic from Amazon generic. Because their battery is replaceable after a few months in the pool they start leaking. None of them survived more than a few months so, if the Ecowitt can survive a year or 2, then I will take that.

That's why I went with the 222/probe. I'm 3M from my garage so getting from the inside to .5M deep in the water worked out well.
Neither probe has leaked over 4 years but I did give the probe tip a coat of RTV in the beginning just as a preventative measure.

I also use the Ecowitt solution with a floating probe in the pool and spa... Had to replace the pool probe after a little over a year because somehow water got in and started messing with it... I think the kids splashing around and unnecessarily dunking it was the problem... So maybe take it out when you are in the pool? But if they just float, they seem to last a long time.

OK after a few test and $ spent on thermometers here is the conclusion:

  • Tried a few generic floating thermometers including La Crosse. They all works a few months but started leaking and stop working. Anyhow none integrated with a "Tablet dashboard"
  • I ordered Govee Amazon.com: GoveeLife Smart Pool Thermometer with Smart Gateway, Digital Swimming Pool Thermometer Temperature Monitor with IPX7 Waterproof, Remote App Notification Alert for Ice Bath Tub, Fishbowl, Pond,Hot Tub : Patio, Lawn & Garden with a gateway. They seem well built and had some colored rings to tell between Pool and Spa. Tried to get the API key from Govee and they answered that the API is not supported on Bluetooth devices. I told them that these were Wifi device but they just kept spitting the same answer. So no integration. I was able to show it as widget on the tablet but could not control the font size and these were very small. (see picture of that dashboard). Also because it was an older tablet Always On Display was not available so it went dark after 10 min. No a great solution
  • Then I got the Ecowitt WN36 (Floating for the SPA), WN34L (Fixed for the Pool) and GW1100 Wifi Gateway. The integration is very easy and now I was able to build a proper dashboard. Because I use Full Kiosk Browser this provide the AOD

I am posting pictures of both dashboard. It running on an ancient Galaxy Tab S3 that was laying aroung

Of course I have hidden the wire in the wall behind the tablet
