So, been with Hubitat for a number of years now, and have used Action Tiles on a Samsung tablet as my dashboard. Well, it exploded today....... literally. The front and back blew apart. So been a number of years since I have worked with any of this. I am 70, and I just do not remember what I did setting things up. (Don't laugh, you will get there.). So, I need a new tablet....... what should I use???, I need to set up a Hubitat Dashboard, any links to a hand held explanation, and lastly, I had on my Action Tiles dashboard a link to the weather station in San Antonio that gave the allergy forecast ..... can I set that up??? Thanks for any and all help.... currenty tablet is 10" by 6"..... needs to sit on my desk
I haven't had it long but I quite like the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro 12.7.
Thanks, but , uh, larger than i need and more than i want to spend.
Can you give us an idea on size and upper limit on price?
good point.... I should have covered that. Current exploded tablet is 10" by 6"
Hey there. I'm even older than you and I get it!
Here's what I got about a year ago and it's very good
And "only" $140. It is a little quirky since Amazon messed up Android but I can help you through the idiosyncrasies.
My dash is pretty basic so I can't help you with the setup there but I'm sure you'll get plenty of help here.
Yup, it's big and that's nice sometimes but if you're looking for smaller the Lenovo Tab One 8.7" is also nice for a portable unit.
Again, I haven't had it long but it also seems very good for the price.
Mine was a Geek Squad open box special for under CDN$100.
As for the exploding...I bet you have it plugged in all the time, right? To treat the battery better I put mine on a Zigbee switch and I have a script on the tablet that turns the switch on (via http to node-red) when the battery drops to 40% and off when it gets to 80%
yes, I did.... Not sure I know how to turn off between 40 and 80, but I do know how to do on at off say every 24 hours or so....
Oh, that is a good size and price. Saved it to my Amazon wish list
Thanks
Yes, it's tricky and requires an app called Automate (unfortunate name, IMO). I didn't look into having it control through HE because I use Node-RED for all my processing (instead of Rule Machine) but that has to run on an external system.
Sorry, this is Greek to me
It may well be possible with Rule Machine too but someone else will have to advise since I don't use it.
This isn't a built-in dashboard tile but the HD+ dashboard does offer an allergy tile option.
I am really sorry, are you saying I can not do it with that tablet or am I missing your message.
That Lenovol looks like a winnah.
Can't complain for the price I paid. ![]()
Just over CDN$110 all in after paying $90ish for the tablet and buying a case ($12) plus screen protector ($10).
The tablet is fine but I don't know if HE will let you do what I do with Node-RED.
