Everything is wave plus except the st814 temp sensor. As far as I know other are no zwave plus ones like that device that are rated to go in freezers ie below 0. They are sweet devices.

Im not sure zwave routing is still not working correct ln latest firmware.. look at the following log for a aeotec ver 6 repeater .. even after repeated device level repairs .

what whould it switch for no repeaters in its path with 1 ms. to 3 with 81ms and then not switch to either direct or the better route it found with 7ms? Is it maybe because the longer route even though much slower has a lower db?

It usually only changes routes when packets don’t make it to the destination.

ive been trying to get it to change as the route it is taking makes no sense.. whatever hopefully it will sort itself out. at least things are working.. but nothing it using that repeater much becuase things going through it are not reliable

The algorithm goes as follows:

  1. Last Working Route
  2. Calculated Route
  3. Explorer Frame

If you are seeing constant route changes, I would invest in more repeaters in route.

If it's that big an issue just air gap the device you don't want it going to for a few minutes. Most cases you'll save maybe 15ms. If it's worth it to you, can't hurt to try. But it'll probably change it again at some point in the future. But if you're having noticeable performance hits because your mesh is so busy it's probably better to just buy another hub and split the devices.

So, does that mean we could force routes by shutting off all Z-Wave devices except the one under consideration plus Z-Wave Plus repeaters/extenders, doing a single-device repair for that device, then unplugging it and moving to the next, etc., then powering up all devices when done?

I did an experiment recently and built out a new mesh designed around ring gen2 repeaters. I carefully placed them throughout the house, including the room that has the hub, and installed then from the hub outwards. Let the network settle for 2 days with just the repeaters. Then started installing devices. The network is preferring those routes at least for now. This was based on line of sight hops (yes walls attenuate RF signal). So my point was to create a solid 700 series backbone.

Out of curiosity, why does waiting a couple days help this process?
Is there some average over time being maintained to find the best routes?

Unfortunately the 700 series repeaters aren't yet available here in Australia.

That said, aside from some of the routes being what I would describe as odd and there are a handful of devices running at 9.6kpbs, everything in my ~30 device mesh is working well on .145.

Let the network settle.. Plus I got busy :man_shrugging:

it did finally switch to the 77 4c route which is a little better .. after repairs.. still strange but at least they are both repeaters..
what is still strange is its going to 77 first (nice it is an aeon ve r7 repeater literally 8 feet from the hub, but then what is strange is its going to the mbr repeater two rooms over from the hub a aeon ver 6 repeater.. then back to the hub.. go figure..

actually im reading it backwards so it makes total sense becuase the mbr repeater is right about the basement one. so it goes to that firs tthen the lr one then the hub..

How should the speed that shows in the Zwave details tab work into a consideration on the health of the network?

The ring gen 2 is 700, the gen 1 is 500.. Plus it has battery backup, so your routes won’t get all messed up when you have a power outage.
