hsm200 is still chunky but thinner than the third reality
too bad innoveli red don't come in outlets only switches
You mean with a similar LED bar? All of Inovelli's offerings have it.
Those look cool. I'd buy one if they had a horizontal layout. Chicago convention is horizontal.
I assume the issue is that you cannot change the LED color and modes from a rule?
Open a ticket with Zooz or post on their forum, specifically for Hubitat support. They might push Hubitat to do it. Just saw it happen with the ZEN58 on another thread.
Correct, yeah... I was going to mention earlier that I'm pretty sure some of the ZSE50's current limitations are really due to firmware (not just driver) WRT to managing the LED independently from any chime activity, so I think you're on the right track there.
It's been a while since I've thought about that device, but I should get a post going in their community sometime sooner than later...
It seems they are now on the cusp of finally releasing a long-promised device, so I suspect they're are stretched thinner than usual these days -- this last ~6 months or so has seen a rather unusual amount of net-new Zooz releases!
Yeah they are tied together but you can totally disable the chime with a setting, or possibly just set the volume to 0.
I don't see any indication that the Shelly plug LED is controllable (on/off and choose colors). Is it?
No, because I value my life. ![]()
Prefer not to... as I noted above:
Those do look nice. Would need to confirm there is a driver that makes the LED controllable on HE. Don't want to have to bring it in via other hubs. Also prefer not to have to buy two and that appears to be the minimum...hmmm.
Agree. A gap in both Inovelli and Zooz product lines. No love for outlets.
Oh, this sounds promising, from the product page:
- Mildly dimmed night light for children's comfort:
Now, you have the option to customize both the color and the intensity of the glow for your Shelly Plug US Gen4 LED indicator. This feature allows you to create a gentle and soothing light source in the kids' room during the night, ensuring their comfort and peace of mind.
Looks very good...if it can do at least three colors & brightness this could be a great option...wife is OK w/smaller smart plugs like this.

Inovelli has talked about doing an outlet, but like so many of their new ideas they wonder aloud about, folks in that community then pile on with their (commonly absurd) long lists of bell-&-whistle wants, and suddenly the whole thing starts getting crushed under its own weight before it ever leaves the drawing board.
ETA - that Shelly does indeed look promising if a driver enabling granular LED control could be had!
...exactly! Where are the Shelly hounds when you need them?! ![]()
For both of them, you could most likely get them working via @kkossev’s Advance Matter Bridge ([RELEASE] Matter Advanced Bridge (limited device support)) even if there is not a device specific driver. My guess is that both devices have two endpoints with one for on/off and the other for light control. If you only cared about color control, my guess is that the generic matter bulb driver would work too.
The InvisOutlet Aura is confirmed to be working OK with the latest version of the MAB community driver (including the LED control as RGBW lights, including the buttons). Hopefully, it will work in the future with the HE stock Generic Matter drivers as well. There shouldn't be device-specific Matter drivers.
They also have “Pro” version that includes a ton of sensors in the outlet form.
That would result in a ton of child devices in MAB ... : (
…unless we had Dynamic Capabilities, Commands, and Attributes for Drivers in Hubitat.
Do you by chance have any other devices that could indicate what you want?
For example, I'm in a house that only has electric heating because we don't have a natural gas line. I added Sinope thermostats throughout the house, and then learned how to make Hubitat display the outdoor temp from my weather station on them.
It dawned on me that since I could make them display the outdoor temp, I could also show the charge level of our EV on them. So I now have them setup so when I hold the middle button on a nearby Pico, they display how much juice our EV has, and then go back to showing the outdoor temp after a few seconds. If I wanted to show what doors or windows were open, I could either create a rule that would cycle through numbers to represent which ones they were when I pressed a button, or cycle through them automatically when the case was true, etc. Lots of options.
It's a specific use case I realize, but my point is there are sometimes opportunities to use devices in ways they weren't purpose built for such as the example @lairdknox gave. OpenEpaper Link is another, albeit quite a bit more complex example of this.
Another thought that occured to me is to ask when is it really important to you to know if they're open? Personally, I only care to know at certain times, so when I put my home into Goodnight mode, Alexa annouces any information that is important to us.
Example: "The shed door is open" or "The car charge level is less than 40%", etc.
We are also iPhone users , so I have an Apple Home room named Alerts that shows the status of contact and motion sensors. We can use this to check if there are any doors or windows open, or if there's motion in the house when we're away.
Yep, that is a useful thing I have with the Inovelli switch we use to shut down most of the house as we're going upstairs to bed... If a pretty-safe window is open (intentional sometimes in nice weather), it flashes yellow for a couple minutes, but if any doors are unlocked/open or any easily-accessible windows are open, it flashes red. It's a very useful notification!
Exactly. I also have the Inovelli fan and light switch in our bedroom. Solid green means everything‘s fine, but when the top led is flashing red, it means the front door is unlocked. Bottom flashing red means the door to the garage is unlocked.
Good questions...we do have other devices/paths, I have detailed them above and why they don't work for us in this case/location. Partly logic and partly home deco aesthetic, and highly WAF related. ![]()
As notifications needed/desired...I generate a separate notification in the evening when I start our bedtime process (via my watch) - I get voice & text notifications of any open windows/doors (that I care about when we're going to our bedroom), naming the offenders specifically. I can also get a list of anything open any time I want via command from my Samsung watch.
My wife has found (to her surprise) that she really likes the passive visual notification of door/window status that the Third Reality night lights provide. It's been useful to us throughout the day, if we're going for a walk, walking the dog, going to the store, to visit w/neighbors, or just making sure the dog doesn't have a path to outside. My wife really likes that she can just look at the night lights for current door/window status, and doesn't have to do anything on her phone (not a smartwatch user and never will be) or via voice (all smart speakers have their mics turned off at her request, only allowed to announce) to get updated status.
So what we're doing works for us, is enough & not too much. The new "Mr. Chunky night light ban" on the picture wall where we both want the additional notification is the one part of this that I'm having to work around. ![]()
At this point I'm pretty sure that either the USB LED lights/USB mini switch option that @lairdknox reminded me of, or the Shelly plug that @JB10 shared, will be a good solution. I like both of them.
I did run the InvisOutlet past my wife and she liked the look of it very much, but when I told her the price that made her much less interested. She grew up in a lower income household and has retained a strong thrifty nature regardless of how comfortable we have become. If we can solve the problem for ~$15 ($8 for USB LEDs & $6 for USB mini switch), or $20 (Shelly plug), then why spend $80? Hard to argue w/that... ![]()
