Need something like the Third Reality Night Light, but smaller/sleaker (WAF issue)

I have a couple of the Third Reality Matter night lights that I really like, use them to report door/window status via rules that change its LED color depending on what's open or closed.

I wanted to put one in an outlet on a wall that doesn't have any furniture in front of it, just a picture wall, and the wife is not happy about it "sitting there looking like a big chunky block."

Yes, she's chunk-shaming it.

We don't have a good way to use a color bulb in this area, so that's also out. I know I can do this w/both Inovelli & Zooz switches, but I have all the smart switches I need (and more in boxes) and prefer not to have to buy another. I use GE/Jasco which unfortunately don't support LED color control.

So the Director of Decor has spoken, and I'm wondering if anyone has seen a smaller, sleeker plug-in device of any kind that has a multi-color LED that I can control from RM. Can't be a battery operated device as it would not be awake to receive LED commands. I'm not seeing anything in my initial searches, and not very hopeful, but maybe one of you genius types will surprise me with something cool.

I would like the same thing - a small plug-in LED notifier.

I was really hoping the Zooz ZSE50 could be a win here... I don't have any interest in its chime/sound capability, but there's unfortunately been no useful developments (so far anyway) in really opening up its true potential as an LED-notifier. Hopefully that will change over time :person_shrugging:

I would love for someone to release a small plug-in LED notifier that was easily customizable.

Forgot to mention I looked at that, but aside from not finding support for LED management, it's also a little chunky. There, I said it.

They would sell a million of 'em. I know I'd buy three or four, so just by myself I'd get them close to that.

There are a metric ton of hue things that might work: Philips Hue Bloom Table Lamp LLC012 Zigbee compatibility

But, they seem "chunky", or perhaps "curvy".

There's a crazy list of lights here: Database of Zigbee devices compatible with ZHA, Tasmota, Zigbee2MQTT, deCONZ, ZiGate and ioBroker

Philips has a stupid # of hue devices. I never knew.

That 3R nightlife motion sensor thing is Huge for sure!

Thanks! The table lamp looks cool, but no furniture, and it would be deemed "too big. I'm limited to something that will plug into an outlet and meets the vague "sleek" requirement. I'll look into Hue options some more. They aren't coming up in any "night light" searches but I probably need to broaden my search terms a bit...

Man that is a crap-ton of lights. Wow.

Agree, but it is an improvement over the 3R... If the ZSE50 could get a driver that genuinely opens up its true potential, I think I could get behind it...

With high hopes, I installed one when they first came out, but it's still now just sitting there doing nothing at all since there's no robust driver for it yet  Yet hope springs eternal...

Oops - you're right! I didn't look at the pick closely enough, it is much smaller.

If only we had a community member with demonstrated mad Zooz driver coding skills, and interest in a new challenge now and then. Hmmm...

@jtp10181 - do you know anyone like that?  Feasible? It's got a multi-color LED!

I know Jeff's got a long list going already, but he's got paying gigs that (very understandably) get his attention first.

Zooz really needs to get a Hubitat developer on their payroll.

This is "sleek" but runs smack dab into the same problem as the Hue. But it's kinda cool...i might just order one for shits and giggles!

You could go this route if you install an outlet with a USB outlet. It isn't invisible, but it is quite a bit smaller than the Third Reality.

Excellent, @lairdknox, I had totally forgotten about that!

I'd have to replace the existing outlet with an outlet with USB ports, but I have one of those in the garage. So not a big deal.

The plugs are very tiny - I have Wi-Fi versions of similar ones. I think this could work!

Ordered the three port USB switch, and the LED USB lights (six colors). This should be fun to play with. Hopefully bright enough to see when it's not completely dark.

Me: What do you think of these?
Her: [Eye roll]

Next! :wink::rofl:

But did you mention they were only $80 each?

I just want to second that.

How close to that wall is a light switch? How about using an Innovelli switch or dimmer? You can control the LED's independently from the switch. That way you can set the color based on condition. Just a thought.

Those USB LEDs are quite cool. It'll be interesting to see how the work out!

Just replace the entire outlet with one of these: InvisOutlet Aura – Intecular.

Does anyone know if there is a replacement for https://forums.homeseer.com/forum/homeseer-products-services/homeseer-z-wave-products/homeseer-dimmers-switches/hs-wx300/1498187-hs-wx300-vs-hs-wd200

I have 2 WD200 devices doing status indicator duty.

If you like smart plugs, see if Shelly’s most recent plug works for you.
