The only reason I'd consider Caséta over Inovelli is that Lutron's ClearConnect protocol (that the Picos, Caséta and RA2 switches/dimmers, and other products use) has rock-solid reputation for reliability whereas some people occasionally have problems with Z-Wave (which all current Inovelli devices use, and which you can also find from other manufacturers). But I'm not trying to scare you away from Z-Wave--lots of people use it without problem. A well designed mesh should be all it takes to work well. I personally have no problems with my Z-Wave devices, and I also do exactly what you're asking: mix and match Picos, Inovelli Red Series switches/dimmers, and other devices in the room depending on what I want (most of them control smart bulbs, but you could use it to control an Inovelli dimmer instead if you want to--it's just a button device to Hubitat, and you can set up an automation to do whatever you want in response to the button events ).
I have several Jasco switches, several Zooz switches and several Inovelli switches.
I too have a lutron brigs just for Picos. Love the pico remotes.
I have one pico control a group that has GE, Zooz and inovelli and there are no issues.
No issues with mixing and matching that I have seen
Cheers.
Out of newby curiosity...why do you have a variety of switch brands (GE, Zooz, Inovelli)? I've seen many others in the community have a range of different switches, too, but I've never asked. Do you find that some switches are better than others for certain applications?...or was one just cheaper than the other at the time of purchase?...or are you just trying different ones out each time for fun?... I'm only asking so that I can know if I should be wary of certain concerns as I build out my automation.
Can't speak for everyone else. Personally my smart home journey started with a lock not a hub. As a newbie you things you like. Pick up a couple here a couple there. I wound up with some mismat ching. Its only now several years later that I realized I had not gone the best routes.
So as I prepare for my new home build I am slowly putting together a "consistant" stock of devices.
Not to mention the other reason. Sometimes something just looks so cool it doesn't matter if it fits in. SHINY!!!!
Really came down to timing and cost.
I started my home automation with Loweâs IRIS where the switches were all GE/Jasco Zwave.
When I switched to HE I added more devices and the best value Iâd seen at the time weâre the Zooz 22s and 27s. Zwave plus. Note. I keep an eye on the smartesthouse.com for sales and when they have a sale I tend to buy several.
When Iâd seen the posts on the functionality of the Inovelli reds with the status light I just had to try some so bought a small batch of dimmers and switches.
Perhaps itâs not optimal but I donât see any negative impact. Canât really think of why there would be. The commands are all sent to the discrete devices so it really shouldnât matter the brand.
I think youâll find as you delve into this that itâs a long term hobby youâre signing up for !
Cheers.
All of my sixty-something switches and dimmers are/were Caseta, rock solid, but I replaced the ones in the bathrooms and laundry with GE/Jasco Smart Motion Switch / Dimmer (26931 / 26933) devices because of the integrated motion sensor, and because guests were concerned that the Zooz ZSE18 motion sensors were cameras in the bathrooms. Take a look at them. Jason Bottjen (@JasonJoel) has written a nice pair of component drivers that separate the motion sensors and switches/dimmers into separate devices (makes automation control easy) and that also allow setting of the modes (occupancy, vacancy, manual) by rule manipulation.
I've found a few different Pico product numbering guides, like the one shown here https://www.electricbargainstores.com/v/vspfiles/PDF_spec/Lutron/pico/pj2-4b-spec.pdf. Beginning on page 4, there is a table in the center of each page that shows system compatibility. The first column in these tables contains "Caseta Smart Bridge Pro". And on page 7, for example, this table appears to say that these Picos are not compatible with the Smart Bridge Pro. Page 7 is actually the button configuration that I want, and I have found a few for sale, but I'm not sure they'll be compatible with my HE and Smart Bridge Pro2 setup. So my question is: "Are there some Picos that are not compatible with my Smart Bridge Pro2? Specifically, can someone confirm that the PJ2-4B-GBL-L41 Pico will work with HE and the Pro2?
I think I've found an answer to my own question in this discussion: Lutron PJ2-4B-GWH-P02 Pico Setup(Lutron Keypad or Pico?). The last 6 digits of my desired Pico are irrelevant. The referenced discussion shows that PJ2-4B Picos work.
From what I've seen over the years, some just prefer to choose just a few brands/types and stick with them as consistently as possible, some use different options in different areas depending on device capabilities/design, some pick up whatever is on sale and don't really worry about matching up w/current equipment, some find a favorite in one area and use a particular device for one aspect and a wider variety of devices elsewhere where they don't have a strong preference...
Then add in family/WAF requirements (probably one of the most powerful constraints!), differences in price sensitivity, desired range and types of automation capabilities, etc., and you end up w/setups that run the gamut from "All I will ever use is X until I die!!" to "I have 3 of every band/type known to man."
I love the variation, so much more interesting and useful to hear what people have done when there is a wide variety of setups and approaches.
Agree. Multiple reasons why people stick to one brand vs mix. But after using those Inovellie switches and dimmers I now have a few strategically placed around the house so I can see door status.
Patio door as that what I typically lock last at night. Can see when it turns green that everything else is closed.
One in my bedroom so I can always see if all the doors and closed and locked ...particularly good when turning in for the night.
One by my garage door so I can see if the patio for is locked as Iâm leaving through the garage.
So a few strategically placed Inovellie reds for me would be a good idea even if you choose a different brand for elsewhere.
Iâve been really happy with Zooz elsewhere.
Cheers.

I've found hiding motion sensors under the bathroom cabinets (kick plates) works well to solve this issue. The sensor will still pick up feet entering the room, but only the roomba knows where they all are.
I stick motion sensors to my guests' backs when I greet them at the door (casual slap on the back) so anytime they get up off the couch the bathroom lights go on just in case...
I prefer to chip my guests. Easier to find them in the pound!
Did you ever find out if the L41 Pico (4-button toggle) pairs with the Pro bridge and HE?
I can't imagine it wouldn't work, I have several 4 button Picos that I use with Hubitat.
Now I can't say what if any functions that Caseta will support directly, meaning I don't know if you can configure this pico to control devices in the Lutron App or not, but I do know that the 4 button Picos can be included to the Pro Bridge and that these are available for programming in Hubitat after being added to the Lutron Integration and the button count updated in the device driver (default is 5 buttons).
but specifically the PJ2-4B-GBL-L41, the model that Lutrol warns is not compatible with Caseta Pro or RA (only homeworks)?
yeah, i'm sure of it...
these don't work with Caseta either...
and yet I'm using it here
If i attempt to configure it in the caseta app, it thinks its a standard 4 button non favorite dimmer pico
This is the model I am looking to use, thanks for confirming it!
Iâm not sure what Lutron support is like but itâs really a matter of the pico being compatible with the bridge pro 2. I would think that if itâs compatible there it should be compatible on HE as the function is from bridge to pico not HE to pico. They must have a supported devices list somewhere.
A quick Google search of the Pico part number listed a few posts above, PJ2-4B-GBL-L41, shows the following on Lutronâs siteâŠ
