Looking for mmWave Sensors that can be mounted into outlet boxes

All,

I am looking for some mmWave devices that can be mounted into outlet boxes with a blank cover. Are there any out there you would recommend using? I would like to stay away from Aqara, as I do not wish to add another hub. I would prefer to use zigbee or zwave that work with Hubitat if possible.

I hope you folks have some good recommendations.

Don't know if you searched this forum first and have already seen this, but the mother of all mmWave sensor topics is below...includes pics and info on many devices and commentary on their behavior on a mesh. Most (all?) are Zigbee, I believe.

You may find some potential options for your particular application there.

Danabw,

Thanks for that. I had heard the Tuya stuff was problematic and chatty. I was hoping to find something that worked a little better. Are there better options than Tuya and Aqara?

mmW is still dominated these days by the "cheap chinese" manufacturers. I don't mean that term to be snooty or throw shade, it just is what it is... Aqara dresses itself up a bit nicer than rando AliEx stuff, but I still lump Aqara in the cheap-chinese camp.

None of the more premium manufacturers (e.g. Hue, Lutron, Aeotec, etc) have mmW gear yet, and I'm not sure what to make of that... It certainly seems like a pretty lucrative market to tap into, so their absence so far is a bit puzzling.

Inovelli is close to launching a mmW switch -- that will be interesting to watch once it gets out in the wild.

Personally I feel that us unfair.... While not perfect by any stretch, to be having a crack in that space in a commercial market, plus the additional features they are looking to add to traditional motion detection... that is at least commendable beyond the features offered by other AliEx stuff....

Fair enough - I realize that comment may be divisive, and it's not a hill I'm willing to die on. My primary qualifier for that label is inconsistent (device-level) zigbee implementation across their own catalog and/or too much kept within a walled garden, but I absolutely acknowledge Aqara is commendably leading the charge in terms of normalizing mmW.

Good, cause I'm not willing to equally die on their record for quality delivery  . They have certainly moved to dial, in my opinion, but the experience has been rocky...

When you buy direct from Aqara, they do actually support the product. That is a plus.

It is very unlike the cheap-Chinese stuff, which is "you get whatever" (including when you buy Aqara gear from random sellers on AliEx, which was my mistake).

Xiaomi is very different from Tuya.

They make a huge range of products, ranging from the sensors we see, to electric automobiles that are giving Tesla a run for their money in PRC.
