Is system up and working?

no... hubitat.local doesnt work

Understand that virtually everything with your Hubitat runs locally on your hub. So let's go back to basics.

What model hub do you have?
Is the light on it on? What color?
Did you have a reservation for its MAC address in your router? Is it possible its IP address changed? Is your router seeing traffic from it?
Can you get to http://yourhubIPaddress:8081/ ?

would that mean the hubitat device is bad??? it does have the green light on

Green is good. It means that the hub is working.

Would http://hubitat.local:8081 work? (It is not the hub interface, but rather the diagnostics interface)

I have Hub Model C-5

I assume your hub is connected via Ethernet cable to a router (possibly through a switch), correct?

If you look at your router's user interface, can you see evidence that the hub is connected and has an IP address?

How do you normally connect with the hub's UI? For example, http://192.168.1.60 in a web browser.

Can you tell if your rule (automations) are running properly even though you can't connect to the hub?

I'm sorry that I am not of a big help in knowing the innards

The URL I gave was just an example. When you try to access your hub's user interface while at your computer, exactly what do you do?

When was the last time you know your hub was working? How could you tell?

earlier this afternoon because the front door lock worked and not it doesnt when somebody tried to come in the house

** not it now it**

OK. Did someone else set up your Hubitat for you?

still not grasping this

HAL is asking what URL/link you typically use to access your Hubitat -- for example, do you have a bookmark you use?... Knowing what that is can help folks here help troubleshoot

** http://192.168.1.60 looks familiar to me**

Does this show any hubs?

http://findmyhub.hubitat.com/

For example I see this on my network. You should hopefully see your C-5.

Making some progress here will require some knowledge of how your hub connects to your local network and how to look at your router’s user interface.

It sounds like you might never have accessed that or your Hubitat’s user interface either.

We will have a tough time helping without that. You’re in the exact same situation my wife would be in if I wasn’t home

For example, I have several setup as you can see above.
