Weirdly, my Samsung Frame TV has started having a YouTubeTV video errors when I start it in the morning. The only thing that seems to clear it is disconnecting it from power. Removing and adding the app doesn't fix this either. Soft boot doesn't help. Since the outlet on the wall is behind where the TV hangs...that's a real pain.
Due to some lack of info between the TV and the Hubitat driver, I can also solve another issue by being able to monitor the power. It's different for on/off/ambient modes.
I'm not really following what your issue actually is since you talk about the YTTV app misbehaving but then you say the TV (itself?) is disconnecting from power (implicating a bad outlet possibly?)...
Are you seeking recommendations for a power-reporting outlet/receptacle, or could a smart plug work in that location?
The app is misbehaving and the only way to clear it is a hard power reset. It wasn't doing this until recently and I do expect either Samsung or YouTube will fix it eventually.
There is only space for an inwall outlet.
Unrelated to this problem is tracking the state of the TV between Frame Pic mode and running apps. Nothing updates in the driver.
However, with my other full frame TV (IE with the exteranl box) I am able to read the current power draw to distinguish between on, off, and picture mode in rules.
Thanks guys. I already have both of the items mentioned right about. One isn't "in wall" and the Enbrighton doesn't report power usage...at least the half dozen or so of those I have already don't.
Didn't see that as a requirement I thought you just wanted to be able to recycle power when needed, and it needed to be in wall.
I never understood why the wall switches didn't at least have power monitoring but they don't. The Zen15 is a great choice, I have several. If you wanted something cheaper you could by a right angle extension plug and a cheap third reality wall plug, probably would not take up anymore room than a Zen15. and would be about half the price.
Thanks! I am still really hoping someone makes a zwave/zigbee in wall. For KISS reasons I'm not jumping into matter yet...and really want an in-wall permanent solution.
No direct support. There is support for Apple HomeKit, so it can be integrated via HA. Overall, there are better options that integrate directly with Hubitat.
