I need help adding my Kasa KS205. I have tried and tried using the Kasa Integration in the software. Reset the device countless amount of times. I very easily got the switch into the Kasa app and it works great there. I also was able to get it working in Google Home but just can not get it into the Hubitat. I tried with my phone and with my computer. PLEASE help.
I think that one is Matter capable? If so I would pair it as a matter device. You have to reset it just then set it up with matter not through the Kasa app.
Or you can also use the Tapo integration. The newer Kasa devices do not use the legacy Kasa API anymore.
If you search the forums for KS205 you get all sorts of results with the same question.

Add the device using the Tapo app then use the Tapo integration on HE.
After 8 hours of trying, resetting, re-pairing and trying to get these linked to Hubitat, I give up. They are going back and I will be avoiding Matter like the plague that it is. I've had some problem devices with Zigbee, but nothing like this!
They will link and work with the Kasa app, but I don't want cloud-integrated devices. That is why I went with Hubitat. I don't have Alexa and I don't use Google Home except for the speaker function on a GH Mini with the microphone turned off. I tried commissioning in the GH app (Android), but then it would never connect to Hubitat and only showed up in the GH app as offline. That was also not acceptable. Even Z-Wave would be preferable to Matter, but I will stick with Zigbee as long as I can.
I think with the Kasa devices if you use the Kasa app the set them up, then to use matter you have to reset them and pair to a matter controller first. Once online with matter the Kasa/tapo app will find them automatically.
You need a Matter commissioning device, I don't think a phone is capable of this. Alexa, Google Home, and a couple other devices are capable of commissioning Matter.
I don't have any direct experience with these, but what I saw online they are Matter over Wifi capable? You should have been able to join Kasa device via this GH device, then share it into Hubitat.
In my experience, you can't use the Kasa app to initially join the network, but you can add to the Kasa app after you have joined it to a Matter network. I initially paired to Kasa to do a firmware update (and I would recommend doing so) but after that I removed the device from Kasa and joined it to Hubitat via Alexa.
This is one of the Kasa devices that uses the Tapo API and can connect to Hubitat through the Tapo Integration. Once installed in Hubitat, all control is local.

Hint: If you had done a search for "KS205" from the search icon, you would have found both of these articles.
The packaging said absolutely nothing about Tapo API. At the time I was very frustrated. It is a moot point as the switches went back. I will stick with Zigbee.
Sorry for your inconvenience. For everyone else: Kasa phone app controls all Kasa devices. The Tapo device can control and add TAPO AND KASA devices. This is a part of the transition to a common SW baseline for the new/updated products to reduce costs.
Just to clarify one thing. I did notice that both the hardware and firmware were 1.0 level. I did try to update the one switch I was trying to pair and it updated to 1.1. It made no difference. I'm not sure if Amazon was trying to clear old stock for Prime day. I also think these might have been a prior return as it had a sticker on the packaging that, if I recall correctly, indicated that these may have been returns, even through they appeared to be new and unused.
Did the sticker say LPNxxxx? If so, that is definitely a return. I have had many, many, items the past few months from Amazon that were all returns sold as new including 3 cellphones, and 3 sofa covers, among other things. Amazon has outlived its usefulness.
I have the overwrap. I was wrong as it does not have LPNxxxx. Thanks.
That is normal for the all Kasa/Tapo products. They have the firmware that was available when the product was produced and part of the install is to update to the newer version. That particular device is on it's third update (1.1.1).
