Hubitat for AUS/NZ Chat

That’s bad luck for sure, 90% percent of the switches in my house have an Aeotec nano dimmer or switch module behind them and after 4+ years I haven’t had a single failure.

That said, I’ve had 2 Aeotec Smart Switch plugs fail in about 5 years.

Could be a batch issue with the Aeotec; unfortunately with the placement of the Hubitat, the old Micro doesn't have the range, whereas the Plus do, hence I had to change them over. I also tried Zigbee, but can't even pair in that location.

I have about 25 dual aeotec and single nano switches and I believe they are zwave plus (not sure which chip), only just fitted so I hope they last.
I also noticed the Shelby doesn’t have any external antenna , I assume they are built in?

Any home automakers in Brisbane, would be great to see what other are doing or have done if others are willing?

If that is correct, then I would have assumed that the Qubino drivers would work with the AU version of the Shelley as well. I'm assuming here that the only difference between the two Shelley devices is the frequency they operate on. In that case, the driver should work with the AU version as the driver has no idea which frequency the device is operating at. That's at the Z-wave stack level and that's something the hub will deal with, not the driver.

Might just be they don't show it, as the older Qubino has an antenna, unless Z-Wave 800 negates the need for one.

The EU version appears to from the Hubitat.eu shop:

But there are also several reports of pairing problems with the C-7 (which admittedly is not Z-Wave 800 I think). Not sure if it's worth the risk as both Shelley and OZ Smart Things have both come back to say it's not supported...

That’s correct. The C7 is using the Z-wave 700 chipset. You’d have to go with a C8 or C8-Pro to get the 800 chipset

That's why I thought it might work with the C8. But after both Oz Smart Things and Shelley said no, I don't really think it's worth the risk.

Hey Aussie tech friends.
I need to upgrade my wifi at home to a 6 or 6e model. Has anyone got bad experiences with models like google nest or amazon eero ?
I just want to avoid any known issues with tech/wifi when i upgrade and want to hear from my local brethren first.
Thanks

I’ve recommended these to a few family members and friends, they’ve found them to be pretty good.

With Google’s track record of killing products, I don’t recommend their products to folk.

no issues with home automation stuff with them ?

They don’t have anything major, just wifi bulbs but no Hubitat, and so far I’ve not heard any complaints.

I run a Synology mesh system myself, but I’m in IT and like full control.

Does anyone use Airtouch 5 for AC control, with Hubitat?
We're about to get a system installed, and that is the controller this installer uses.

It seems to have good integration with HA, but I've not seen anything with HE.

Yeah I have the AirTouch 5, no direct integration to Hubitat that I could find. You can control it in Hubitat via Google Home but I’m struggling to get anything other than on/off in Hubitat.
HomeKit via Google gives a lot more control over temperatures etc. To be honest I use the AirTouch App because it’s easier and it has presence and can be controlled remotely.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm yet to try their app yet, but I assume I will do the same. Once a few scenes are made, set and forget.

No but you could always bring it in from Home Assistant via the Home Assistant Device bridge.

Ok Smart people,

Are there any wireless switches that are trully rock solid in aus these days (not in wall)? (tp link kasa fails, xaomi fails, aeotech z wave fails) I have spent $2000+ on smart devices only to have had so many headaches that Bunnings digital timer switches seem more reliable to me now even with their bad reviews. Quantity seems like a factor but even when I only had 10 max devices there were still regular failures every month or two (devices breaking or becoming unresponsive/need re pairing).

Is there be anything reliable enough to have say 10-15 switches in an air b&b or if you worked away often and it had to work for your family? That kind of reliability?

thanks in advance.

These Zigbee units are rock solid, I have about 8 now.

Nice and wow, cheap. They kinda look like the old Xiaomi ones. Out of stock at the moment though. Maybe generic (not designed for one particular hub/system/brand) is a good thing for reliability. I have a few doubts on reliability but at least its not expensive. Do youhjave a lot of other devices on your network, specifically zigbee?
