Hubitat for AUS/NZ Chat

I ordered mine from here: https://smarthomemount.com/collections/charging-power-converters

My Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 tablet complains when I first plug it in, something about it not charging at full capacity. I tested it and it delivers 900mA, which is fine with full brightness if you don't have the screen always on.

Yes, looking for one which can be permanently charged preferably via POE.

Thanks for sharing though - Does it move much as you tap on the screen?

I found this one which is very reasonable in price:

Just be aware that these are 3d printed so won't look as nice as injection moulded parts.

Thanks for letting me know - Vidabox prices are just too expensive though and I don't know how they can justify charging people almost the cost of the actual tablet (even more expensive in some occasions) for a plastic box.

Yes mine is powered by POE as well.

I'm not using normal velcro - I'm using 2 pairs of Command Picture Hanging Strips, large size. It holds very firmly, no movement at all. I've cut out some of the spines/hooks to allow the ribbon cable to pass between the strips. It's so strong that I have no fear of it falling; I'm more worried about cracking the screen or bending the chassis as it takes a lot of force to detach/reattach to the wall.

I see, where did you get the velcro from again? And would you happen to have the link to it? Does the POE converter use 24v or 48v passive POE?

There's an idea - according to 3M these can hold about 3kg for 2 pairs. Just curious as to why you placed the strips around the centre of the tablet. To minimise stress on the tablet, wouldn't it be better to mount 4 pairs of small/medium strips at the top and bottom edges though?

Using 802.3af 48V real/non-passive POE to USB adapters:

Not a fan of passive POE due to potential for short-circuit/fire.

And an adapter between the two:

I positioned the strips 17mm in from each side, just avoiding the radio area. I thought it would be more discrete, rather than have them right at the edges and light bleeding through the middle. I have a terrible habit of over-thinking things of no consequence. :exploding_head:

Yep, called up and confirmed that they do require neutral wire and I don't have it available at my place - I can get the sparky to install some on switches which are on double brick walls but I'll get stuck with the internal walls which are single brick and have no conduits either hence I've been chasing switches which don't require neutral.

Ah that sucks. So normal wiring in Aus is 3 wires, right? Active, Neutral and Earth?

Anyone know if thes ehave a built in zigbee module? And can they be paired with hubitat?

It says Zigbee on the box so I’d assume so.

I’m tempers to buy a couple at that price.

Says Zigbee in the item description, and the OzBargain listing has the seller saying it works with a generic Zigbee hub.
I bought one, hope we can get it to work with Hubitat
Also hope I can install it on my door  (door currently doesn't have that type of deadbolt)

I'm going to roll the dice as well

I've got two of the older models of the same Lockwood lock with Zigbee module, and they work fine, can send lock/unlock commands and it reports status reliably. The Hubitat Lock Code Manager app is unreliable though, it doesn't always sync changes through. Not sure if it's the app or the lock. But codes are rarely changed unless you are running an AirBNB.

I just bought 2, one for the front door and one for the back door.

Older houses don't come with stock neutral wire... Mine is only 11yo though.... Back in the days they only used the other 2 wires.

The wires in my internal walls are mudded in as there's no conduit so the only way to put a neutral in would be to chase it in but I'm not keen on that.

I think it depended on how lazy/cheap the builder was, my 30year old House has neutrals to every socket and switch.

probably cheap in my case then... I bought it established in 2015 and the finishings are quite 'budget' ... I've spent a ton of money so far to improve it though so I am happy with it now (apart from not having neutral wires)

Bugger, that must limit you with quite a few things.
