Yeah, I thought that as well. Mini Me of the HE world. That's good that the hub came quickly. Hope that the team can confirm the official nature of them as distributors.
Which driver is everyone using for the smart things smart plug?
Just the generic zigbee outlet driver.
Did they update it in the latest update? Thought I read about the power readings being fixed up?
Dunno, I haven't bothered checking ... I will now tho.
Nope, still just "Generic Zigbee Outlet" - I searched on SmartThings, Samsung, Outlet and there was nothing specific.
I'm using generic aswell, but seems readings take ages to update
Edit. With the generic, I was seeing readings of 60,000 odd. It's only attached to a washing machine!
They do appear to have fixed the power reporting for the Generic Zigbee Outlet, though I was upgrading from 2.2.4 to 2.2.5.131. I also had my details incorrect, I had switched to the GE driver rather than the Generic because I was having power readings all over the place with my Ikea plugs, though looking at the events just now, doesn't look like the GE driver really changed anything. I'll try moving back to the Generic driver.
I have seen people reporting some zigbee issues in 2.2.5 with devices dropping off, etc. Perhaps it's related....
Maybe.
I have an update available ( not sure if version number)
Might poke around and see if the latest fixed anything
If I need accurate power readings I use a Z-Wave outlet (Aeotec SS6) - I mainly got the Zigbee plugs to create a mesh for my Iris v3 Security Keypad, Pantry Motion Sensor and Bulb + Mailbox sensor.
I kind of did the same, I mostly use TP-Links for power readings myself.
My zigbee mesh has been the best it's ever been since 2.2.5.128
Yeah, have seen mixed reports...
I just moved our Main Bedroom Lamps (Hue White Bulbs) over to HE to try the new "Advanced Driver". It works pretty well so far - my only complaint is the power outage detection (to revert to last state) is much slower than the Hue Outage detection (a couple of seconds vs almost instant).
I'll see how it goes for a bit longer tho.
I've used a couple of these Telstra Smart Switches which also do power monitoring and a driver from HERE
The driver also includes "Presence" but I've not investigated using that.
They're working great and at approx. $15 each, they're a Zigbee bargain (just ordered 3 more. LOL)
And we had a 6-second power outage 1.5 hours after we went to bed last night - the Wife was not impressed that the "Advanced Driver" was so slow to recognise the power outage that it woke us both up when the power came on and the Hue bulbs woke us up.
I'll be moving these back to the Hue Bridge today.
Lol, yeah, that's why I'm sticking with the hue bridge for most of the always on smart bulbs. Hue is more expensive but that's a killer feature.
Actually, it's some sort of hack they've implemented - the globes still turn on but they turn off again before they've even hit 1% brightness. I wish Zigbee bulbs had accessible device config options like Z-Wave does.
Hack indeed. I just put any bulbs that aren't hue branded in places that I don't care if they come on at 3 AM.
