I might have misunderstood what you were asking - I thought you meant why is battery level not on the tile like it is for say a motion sensor. eg.
If you go into the Mailbox device and run "refresh", does the battery level under the "current states" list change? if not try clicking "configure" and then in 5 mins hit refresh.
If still no joy you might have a range issue preventing it from communicating 100% to the hub.
Hi mate i'm using the sonoff motion driver atm from markus. I've tested it with the generic driver aswell and they both don't show the battery percentage on the dashboard when set to a motion sensor. They probably need a custom driver to get that to happen although you could probably try the Tile Master App and have two lines on the tile, one for motion and one for the battery percentage attribute.
Do you have any unrecognized packet messages in your logs which could show what is needed to add in order to support this? What's the exact model you have?
Hi Markus
Many thanks for your time and greatly supporting our community. Really appreciated.
This is the link to the Cygnet motion sensor which does not display the battery level using your zigbee motion Sonoff driver.
On the other hand the Cygnet contact sensor works 100% with your Zigbee Contact Sonoff driver .
I have both types of sensors at home and I am happy to run any tests for you if need it.
Thank you
Hi Derekjosborn
No worries and thank you for suggestions. Iβll carry on working on this and let know the group the outcome. Hopefully will show the battery as is smallest and less obtrusive motion sensor that Iβve seen around and I would like to use it for the rest of the house ( easy to hide it). Regards
Here's a quick tile i made with the Tile Master app using the motion sensor @bogdan.mail A different coloured icon would be better but just made a quick example.
Hi All
Good news the Cygnet motion sensor indicates the battery level now using
Markusβ driver for Zigbee Sonoff motion sensor (Thank you Markus) The only thing that Iβve done was to disconnect and reconnect the battery. The battery shows a very low level ( despite the sensor being purchased this Tuesday) but as I have noticed with the Cygnet contact sensor the battery value may correct itself after a day or two.
I am about 10m away from the nearest Ikea zigbee repeater located in the garage ( behind the metal panel door) and I don't have any issues. Perhaps it will be a good idea of doing some testing with the sensors not being attached yet and if it is not working, then more than sure you'll be able to use it somewhere else indoor.
That's interesting. I've got reliable operation, about the same distance as you but a timber letterbox.
When I did my testing a few weeks ago when the xiaomi sensor was installed, the basic ikea repeater wasn't that great so I replaced it with a modified ikea repeater which had its pcb antenna replaced with an external antenna. The extra signal strength as a result makes the connection pretty solid.
