How Do I Add A Smart Start Device In The iOS App? There's No Plus Sign!

First SS device add with my new iPhone.
Can't see a "+" sign on the Devices tab, as in the Android app.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Does the "Home" tab think you're local or cloud? (My guess, and the reason the above would occur: cloud.)

You're right. It says Cloud.
I disabled cellular on phone...dashboard still works as normal.
How do I get it right?
I thought I restarted app, but it didn't help.
Again, first iPhone for me.
Thanks.

I logged out and logged in.
Didn't help, still cloud.

It should detect automatically, but there were problems with this in the past. I know some fixes made it to the beta app (see [BETA RELEASE] New Hubitat Mobile App available in TestFlight for iOS - version 2.0.0 for instructions). Otherwise, if you haven't tried a force-close and restart of the apps or some other tricks that might help, you may find some workaround on the current version, too.

I shutdown and restarted the phone.
No good.

This isn't cool.
Have to use the app to add long range z-wave.
@bobbyD ? What's the story?

That thread's a year old.

Which Hubitat app did you download? I think there still may be 2 versions in the App Store... The correct one has the mostly green icon (not mostly white - that's the old app).

Are the Hubitat app permissions set to allow access to Local Network, Cellular Data, and Background App Refresh? I think those would be the most releveant options... FWIW, my app has always worked fine on my iPhone 13 here (prod version of the app - I don't participate in any of the app betas).

I deleted the app and reloaded it.
It said last update to app was 3 weeks ago.
1.0.2, build 1
Still cloud.

Mostly green.
3 weeks old.
See above post.

Yes, and the process for joining the mobile app beta has not changed.

You should be on 2.1.0 build 383 if you have the correct app installed.

Notice the icon in the app store link, here is a picture of the older app that you don't want right now...

Blah blah blah.
All to maybe be able to install smart start devices on an iphone.?
Even on my android I managed to install 100+ smart start device.
This is bogus.
I'll revisit this evening.
This day's almost shot as it is.
Thanks.
And @bobbyD , how about some advice direct from the corporate brain trust?

There is a bug with local/cloud detection in the prod version of the iOS app. SmartStart needs local. That's the cause of the SmartStart issue for you. If you are affected, the two easiest options are to wait for the beta to become prod or install the beta using the instructions above. Hubitat does not have control over how Apple's Test Flight process works, which it seems is also part of a new concern.

As a slightly less easy option, you can also use the unofficial endpoints to add devices yourself or use Jeff's community app to make it easier. You appear active in that topic, suggesting you may already be doing this.

Unless you have a misconfigured home network, misconfigured hub network settings, or some other problem, if none of the workarounds for local/cloud detection you've tried work, it's going to have to be one of those.

That's a major bug at this point of Z-wave long range devices.
You think it'd be a priority by management and users wouldn't have to resort to a beta.

Android: Yes you can add long range devices.
iPhone: No LR for you.

My iOS app works fine (I just used SS to pair a device on Monday), so it's not affecting all iOS users. I don't mean that to rub salt in the wound, but just to highlight that it doesn't seem to be hugely widespread.

I was hoping it was something I did and could easily correct without resorting to a beta.

I might have removed and reinstalled the app when it did that in Android.
With the iPhone, that had no effect.

This bug is not related to Smart Start per se; that's just a side effect. It also does not affect all users (my app detects local without problem, for example). In any case, it is known, and a fix is in the public beta you can join if you want to try.

EDIT: One thing not mentioned above, and probably not the cause if you can otherwise use the app locally despite the detection, but make sure "Hubitat" is enabled for access under Settings > Privacy and Security > Local Network.

To clarify, I did post a beta link, and that is because while the v2 app itself is public, there are still ongoing beta releases of it before the published App Store releases. The process I linked to is how you can join that beta if you want. A recent build has a fix that should address this problem.

The link I posted is for production app v2 not Beta app, v2 of the app has been public for almost a year.
