If you have an older GE Z-Wave dimmer or switch that does not report manual activation, there is a fix for this. The fix is a built-in app called Z-Wave Poller. You can read about it in our documentation .

Yes, there are actions available in Rule Machine to control Z-Wave Poller. Stop the polling in Z-Wave Poller if you're going to do that, and just use RM to start/stop it for the devices you intend to use that way. You can have a mix, some controlled from RM and some from the app always polling.

Again, the central question is: Is the switch reporting that it's off? If not, the behavior you are seeing is the result.
What kind of switch is it? If older Z-Wave, put it on Z-Wave Poller. That should make it work.
Meanwhile, I think I will make a small change to Motion Lighting that will also fix this. The change would result in switches being told to turn on even when they are already on. That's a bit wasteful, but it would overcome the problem of a switch that doesn't report off in …
