Flume integration

I'll bet you caught a really small window in the re-auth process that happens periodically. I can probably make it more resilient to that failure, but it'll have to be timed just right for someone else to reproduce it.

I'm seeing the Flume device taking up a lot of hub processing time...second highest on my hub's list. Is this expected? Any things I should do to manage this?

State looks normal:

Those settings look pretty typical to me. If this one is in your top 5, maybe your other apps and drivers are just really efficient?

Mine is showing 3.9% of busy and 0.146% of total time. How do those compare to yours in relative terms? Are you noticing performance issues or some other effect that makes you concerned by the utilization here?

I am getting warnings from HE that my database is too large and Flume (along with some weather sensors) was leading the pack.

I checked %, below. % Total seems fine, % busy seems high.

Yeah, I agree that yours seems oddly high.

FYI, each refresh does 4 cloud interactions in order to gather all of the needed info. The current structure of the driver is to do those synchronously for simplicity.

I suspect that the time spent waiting for them to turn around and come back from the cloud is contributing to the 'busy' time.

I haven't done much profiling in drivers unless I have seen a notable slow-down or other issue that arises.

But I am curious this time... I'll PM you to see what we can cook up to try to reduce that number, and I'll be interested to see whether it improves performance on anything noticeable.

I have mine on a dedicated "Cloud/Network" (C5) hub like a REAL HEvian should and am not experiencing any issues - everything is still responsive... just sayin' -

The total ms seems high maybe?

Ho-lee-cow! This is great!
I bought Flume just last week after my remote home in the country experienced it's 3rd > $1K water bill in 10 years.

I liked them because Flume offered an API, but THIS driver is crazy, just what the doctor ordered.

I have an old Insteon setup out there, but use HE for a couple of other places, and THIS was icing on the cake. Now I have rules to ping me if the sensor is offline, if usage > 5 gallons over 5 minutes, or if there's a leak (wet).

How can we buy you guys "some coffee"?? Seriously, please!

Have you considered adding a water valve actuator? Something like one of these:

https://www.getzooz.com/zooz-zac36-titan-water-valve-actuator/

Then if you detect a leak you can automatically shut off the main... Of course you need to have a valve with a lever. The other thought is to have an inline actuator installed.. but somehting like this is less expensive and easily installed/removed.

Actually ran across that zooz actuator last night while looking for a new driver for the 4-in-1 motion sensor that showed 'DEPRECATED'. Zooz is really keeping up with the HE community and provide a new driver here.

I DID grab a WIFI version of an actuator, but I don't like it, and still haven't tested the range as the valve is about 500 feet away from the nearest AP. Also, their cloud is based in China and the API is very convoluted (integrates via SmartLife, no thanks)

Look at this, works very well. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LX3JFR8

That is an option, but am looking for something to put outside down in the "water line shutoff box". Going to give this Zooz Actuator a try. $120, not terribly expensive. Not like the Moen, oof, $800.

Just make sure the lever is compatible and you have enough space before pulling the trigger..

So I got another leak notification today. Yay flume!

Trouble is I can't track it down. I know that it's something in the front yard irrigation because when I turn off the front yard irrigation master valve the leak stops. But none of the irrigation valves and use in the front yard are leaking or making a single sound when I get close to them to make sure they aren't accidentally letting some water pass through.

I thought that if the valves aren't open nothing can get through and therefore water shouldn't leak downstream from the valves.

Am I missing something?

Hole before the first valve?

That's what I think it must be, bit it's over 200 gallons and I see no wet spots. Going to have to dig up the whole distant from the master valve to the irrigation control valves. Sigh...

Moisture meter with a ground probe? Might take a while but better than digging the whole length

Might also find out if American Leak Detection is local. Their rates are pretty cheap

Thanks - I've ordered a 12" probe that will be here tomorrow, so will give that a try first. But I have to figure out where the main line runs from the front yard master valve to the irrigation valves. I have pics of when the did the work (2004!!) but they don't clearly show the route, and I just didn't realize how important that info would be at the time.

Haven't heard of them, but never looked before. Thanks for the tip!

Yup, they have a local branch and have pretty good record on NextDoor app, so I've given them a call to see what their rates look like. Thanks!

I'm a huge fan of my flume. In the 2 years I've had the gen 1 product it found a couple of irrigation leaks and 2 toilets that where leaking. Just got the gen2 which I haven't installed yet.
