So are these no good atm? Seemed to be some excitement that turned to negativity over these.
Well, it works. It's just a bit chattier than we would like to see it.
From another point of view - the ZBMicro is 4.3 times less chatty than the most spammy Tuya radar, and all these devices do not overload the hub - they consume only 0.9% of the hub CPU resources.
This exactly. I've been waiting for something like these as have others. I cannot use them. I just picked up a C-8 and for S&G I paired one backup again. I had 6 zigbee radio restarts in 5 hours. Similar on my C-7, numerous zigbee reboots while the device was paired. All good once removed.
I came across this conversation yesterday morning. I went from I'm going to order a couple to I'll check back in six months. Thanks to those who spare us some of these misadventures.
Sonoff responded to my poor review with the following information:
To solve the problem of Zigbee restart, please update the gateway to the latest version of the driver in time. At the same time, we will refer to the opinions of Hubitat developers and change the interval of ZBMicro network check from the shortest 15 seconds to a fixed 15 minutes to reduce the burden on the gateway. This version of firmware is expected to be released within this month.
Perhaps these will become usable soon. Hopefully, since 5 of them stare at me daily.
Not to mention all the anguished posts they've been leaving in the Lounge here...
I came here to post that, as they sent me the exact same message in email.
Of course, the first comment ("please update the gateway to the latest version of the driver") makes no sense.
I did ask if they will be sending the new firmware to Hubitat.
It is great that Sonoff/eWeLink listen to what the customers say!
I will be checking periodically for a firmware update using their GW, usually the OTA files are made available for upgrade for Home Assistant - this means it will be possible to ask Mike to make these available in Hubitat as well.
Using this driver it is possible to change the power-on behavior and to turn on the Zigbee radio high power (similar to Hubitat C-8 radio levels 4 / 16 )
There is a review posted here:
No mention of a Zigbee restart issue.
Thanks, you made me feel better, I'm only staring at 3.
They sent me this:
We will upload the firmware to the ZHA and Z2M Repositories, and then developers of other platforms can obtain the firmware update package by calling it
Hi Krassimir. Will we able to update sonoff zigbee devices firmware via hubitat later than? Could you write driver for zbminil2 and zbnano which supresses their spamminess?
Kind Regards
Zsolt
Sure, let's see what happens with the ZBMicro first, when Sonoff are ready with the firmware update.
Thanks Krassimir.
Atm moment this device is a pain in ... keeps disconetting from the C7 zigbee.
Do you know if it is possible to put it in pairing mode without taking it out the wall?
I have not noticed any connectivity issues so far (paired to my dev. C-8-Pro hub).
Can you post a screenshot of the State Variables section - 'stats' ?
ZBMicro is put into pairing mode by holding down the button on the device for 5 seconds.
You can try the custom driver linked in my post above, it provides additional statistics that may help to identify what could be the reason for the issue in your environment.
So at this point, at least in your environment/using your driver, it sounds like you're OK w/how the device is behaving. Have I got that right?
with 5 of them in your house i doubt it till f/w update comes out
