I'm also wondering about this. I have Hub Protect now, which I purchased really for cloud backups. Now that there is a cloud backup option, if I 'm going to be charged the new price for Hub Protect for the next three years, I may want to just cancel Hub Protect and start a new Cloud Backup subscription for the three year price.
Unless we are locked into the pricing for the next three years with a current subscription, then I will just keep hub protect.
Great question! The earliest subscription term should apply to the newly added service, so both licenses will not change price in the future (as long as both services remain active). The bundle discount should be automatically applied during check-out when adding the missing "bundle" service. This applies for existing Hub Protect users who add Remote Admin or vice-versa.
If its already dead you would have needed anything that gives you cloud backups, before it died. So Hub Protect or the new standalone Cloud Backup. Hub protect would provide a new hub at no cost, the standalone Cloud Backup you must provide your own replacement hub.
For a C4, I don't think the Zigbee or Z-wave can be backed up or migrated, so hub protect would not be much of a benefit over just a local backup saved off the hub. I think you need at least a C5 (some models as outlined in docs) to be able to fully migrate to a replacement hub.
So if I add remote admin 7 months in on my protect subscription as an add on bundle, is my fee prorated? Or should I go month to month until end of October.
You can't get the bundle discount for the monthly Remote Admin, only for the yearly service. The discount is applied when you sign up. You'd have two different billing cycles for individual services, but the total yearly cost would be $54.99.
