C-7 2.3.7.145 Backups have failed for months and updates crash the whole system

I have been getting backup error messages for months. Everytime I try to manually save a backup, I get an html file instead that has the text "backup file not found"

Updates were working pretty regularly, however...until I made an update last month. After that update, the entire system crashed and acted like it ws brand new.

I was able to finally figure out a magical combination of downgrades and restores that appears to save all of my devices and rules.

Is there a way to get a backup when the manual backup fails?

Is there away to save my devices and rules outside of the normal backup process?

How can I perform an update and keep everything I've built so far?

First I would do a soft reset. After the soft reset I would then do a manual backup to your PC (not phone) and then update to the latest platform (2.3.8.140), You are several dozen updates behind...There are a lot of fixes, security updates, and feature updates.

I did a soft reset, updated the firmware, and tried to update from a backup I made this morning

Corrupt database found

Hub cannot continue. To fix a corrupt database, the hub needs a soft reset.

I've tried to restore from backups on 5/12/24, 2/14/24, 1/16/24

Every one is a corrupt database found.

Is there a way to get my configurations backup without backups, because they appear to be useless to me.

You did it out of order. Try falling back to the previous platform. Then restore from backup then update the platform. Do you have a hub protect sub?

It doesn't matter the order of operations.

Every restore from any backup with any hub version either equals corrupt database, or the reboot sticks on the database section.

let it run for up to a half hour on the database section. But roll back to the older platform first.

This is likely due to a change at the browser level to keep your system “secure”. You should be seeing somewhere a message that you need to allow the download to continue.

Do not think so.. I have had that same problem on and off ..
Not sure whats causing it .. most times if I do a cloud backup and try a local backup
right after .. I also get the same thing .. a html file .. inside that file it says : backup file not found
Does not matter what browser I use. I also reported it ..

Never got a answer .. on why this happens.

What I found is if you do a cloud backup and then close all windows.
wait awile let the hub "reset" then do a local backup then it works. ¯\(ツ)

Device and restore have the same version.

It's been at 15% updating database for 80 minutes now

@bobbyD

Do you have Hub Protect?

No. But it doesn't work on multiple backups from multiple versions. So I'm not sure how more backup files will help.

Use a different browser to download the backup if it's downloading at HTML

I figured out how to download the backup files from the backup window. Backups were made and stored on the device, but none of them work. Except the blank ones saved when soft rebooting.

Info here could help...

Seems to be a common problem. Someone solved it by going back to 2.3.6...but that's not in my option list. The oldest firmware I can go to is 2.3.7.145, and it seems this problem started with 2.3.7.40.

Found one of my answers: If you want to get older versions - go to Device ip/hub/advanced/downloadPlatform/236

I tried the newest and oldest versions I could change to, and then every update I had on each. Nothing worked.

I also tried:
turning the power off after a soft reset
powering up initially without the ethernet cable
loading backups from my hard drive
trying a different browser to eliminate caching issues

Probably going to need help from support, Bobby's been tagged above.

Will help if you can PM your hub UID to him.
