Broadlink IR/RF remotes integration (RM3 Mini, RM Pro, RM4 Mini/Pro)

Good afternoon Tom, I think I'm almost reaching the finish line, first of all thank you so much for your suggestion, I could realize that I had to reinstall the HPM and everything is working correctly. As I had told you on my previous post my intention to integrate Broadlink to Hubitat is to control the Hurricane Shutters and some Windows Shade too. I was able to capture and save the code (RF) from one of my "Shutters" and then i create a Virtual Device "Virtual shade" type, and labeled as "SHUTTER 1".

Then using the BSM I imported the "saved code" to Hubitat but unfortunately when i tried to "Sync" the code to my Virtual Device "SHUTTER 1" it is not populated on the list, only the "Hubitat Remote" is populating. I am new on Hubitat and these are the only missing devices to complete my Dashboard and home automation and I feel really frustrated. I am sharing some captures and appreciate the help that can provide me. Thank you.

You can't use the virtual shade driver directly with my Broadlink integration.

You have to use the custom command action in Rule Machine and either push or sendSavedCode with the saved code name as a parameter.

Please take a look at the readme that I published on GitHub.

Hey Tom, thank you for your quick response I truly appreciated, believe me i read your article multiple times and you did an amazing job, I do not want to sound annoying but based on my ADHD and watching already a couple of videos on how to use the Rule machine i think i will go with the second option to use either "push" or "sendsavedcode". based on the information provided before what is the correct sentence or command to write to either "push or Sendsavedcode" to my desired device? Thank you again.

From the readme: "Note for Rule Machine users -- you must select device type Actuator in order to select either the sendSavedCode or push command."

As an example, here's one of my rules leveraging this Broadlink integration.

Thank you... but i cannot find on any dropdown list during the process a device type as "Actuator", any suggestions please? and thank you again.

This is the new rule that I have created, but how do i push then the "Saved Code" to the my Device "Shutter 1"?

When you add a command in Rule Machine, these are menu selections to make to get to Actuator:

Once Actuator is tee'd up, then the rest should end up looking something like this:

So, I have the RM4 Mini, and I tried unsuccessfully to do a RF sweep and learn, and then I read the box more closely and I think this device only supports IR. Is that right? It's the RM4 Mini, not the Pro.

Yes, you need the RM4 Pro. Make sure you order a version that supports both 315 MHz and 433 MHz.

will this work with the Broadlink RM4C Pro "Bestcon" or does it have to be the RM4 pro?
i need RF

:person_shrugging: Tom's work is based on the python-broadlink, which supports RM4C mini, but makes no mention of RM4C Pro. If you're in the EU or Australia, then 315 MHz isn't included in those versions.

Give it a try, but make sure you can return it if it isn't compatible.

Hello @tomw. I too am a newbie to Hubitat.
I am trying to control a light with IR remote via the braodlink rm4 mini. I can get things to work in the app but i want to control it in Hubitat.
I tried to enter the bundle zip file but i cant seem to get it to work. I also tried to use the driver code but couldn't manage that either. I am sure that it is something silly that I am not doing right but I just cant get it figured out. Thanks in advnace.

The easiest way to install most community apps & drivers is Hubitat Package Manager (HPM) which is also a community app itself.

HPM greatly simplifies installations and also provides easy access to any future updates, and has a great serach tool for finding new things -- it's a big win.

Not every community app/driver out there is available in HPM, but most of the most popular ones are -- and this one is.

Welcome to Hubitat!

I agree with the recommendation to use HPM. It really simplifies the installation process.

You can also use the readme on my GitHub page for this component (link is in first post of this thread) for detailed installation and configuration instructions. Please post back if that info doesn't clear things up.

Thank you both. It worked like a charm.

So I have been able to connect the broadlink rm4 mini to the app. I have been able to add the driver to Hubitat.
Now I am having trouble adding the device to hubitat. Do i add it manually as a virtual device? If so, do i then make the "type" be broadband remote and the "device name" be anything that i want?

Thanks

Have you looked at the readme mentioned in the very 1st post (top of thread)?

Lots of great information (including your ? about virtual devices) are covered in the readme.

Yes. Just read it and got the basics.
Where do i find the IP address of my broadlink device?
Sorry for the dumb questions....still learning.

The BL device's IP would be found in your router's interface -- wherever you'd look up IP addresses for any of your other wifi stuff around the house.
