Android Mobile App Beta [207] Not detecting local connection

Wired ethernet back haul.

The tablets have no cellular capability. I've tried disabling cellular on my phone, force stopping the app, and restarting. No impact: still immediately says cloud connected and only provides cloud connectivity options.

How does the new app perform this check? Any notable difference with this process with the old app?

My network setup is ASUS RT-AX88U plus WiFi mesh (two mesh nodes)
Phone is Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra running Android 14.
Tablet is Samsung Galaxy S9 Ultra running Android 14.
Old HE Application has no problem connecting locally.
However new HE App ALWAYS connects via Cloud no matter what I tried.
Another words, the only difference is HE APPLICATION.
This clearly pointed to the HE Application problem (whatever it is).

I have the same issue. I haven't complained about it, but when I tried to include new devices, it became more evident that they prevented Smart Add for Zwave.
I'm on pix8 pro, 15 android. 2.0.7 (281). I have cleared everything changes.

On the new app I clicked the person icon in the upper left of the home page, and get "My account"
I click "Registered Hubs" (I only have one) then Hub details and I get my Hub with correct IP address.
If I click "Connect to Hub" I get a log in page and can login as if I was on the internet. I can't do much because of the small screen and impossible for me to read. But it proves that there is some way, through the app, to log into the hub when I am home. I just don't want to do it that way - LOL. On the old app I can "Connect to Hub" without entering login info - it just goes right to my hub.

Also Asus using AIMesh? Though there have been others running Unifi that have the same issue, and the comment by @vitaliy_kh is clearly pointing to something that has changed in the new app, but is still worth sharing details about the network gear, because we can't replicate the problem internally.

And to rule out a WiFi I connected my Galaxy tablet to the switch with USB/Ethernet adapter and turned off WiFi. The result is exactly the same: old app always connects locally (WiFi and/or wired lan connection) but new app always cloud connected.

I do Asus router but I don't wifi radios. I do use unifi wifi.

I too have the same issue sp following this thread eagerly..

Thanks for the trouble-shooting effort.. i was about ready to also create a new mobile device to see if the situation cleared up.. you saved me the effort..

Cannot use smart-start on this newer app because it states that i need to be on the same network as the c8 hub..

Hub is lan only connected.. not using wifi for it..

I need to both install & diagnose some new 800 LR devices.. impossible with this app..

Just for clarification, the last version of this app and only that version allowed local access..

Did you guys see this?

How does one get on the beta platform? I'm happy to be a beta teste for the Android app...

Edit: just joined the beta program... Waiting for the play store to provide the new version

Been a while since I did it, but I believe at this point you can join the Android app beta directly from the app's entry in the Play Store... IIRC there is an option to join the beta on the apps' pages in the Play Store.

I'm on travel over the holidays, so I'm now in a non-standard situation: I'm away from home, but have VPN access into my LAN. On the old app, with this same connection, I'd have local connection and access. On the new app, I'm still getting cloud connect and access options. When I do not have the VPN connected, the app crashes when attempting to load the dashboard tab.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app after enrolling in the beta?

Did that, the app now sometimes doesn't crash on selection of the dashboard tab, but it's still randomly crashing when selecting any tab after it initially loads.

Ignoring that, when NOT connected to VPN, initial load of the dashboard tab shows this error for about 5 seconds, but then refreshes and dashboards are loaded (LAN IP masked because paranoid).

When on VPN, all functions still show and act as cloud connected. The dashboard tab loads without the initial error.

Added: also, when VPN connected, I cannot get the app to crash like it is when not VPN connected.

I removed and reinstalled the app. I've downloaded a new app. I still have the same problem where it only connects to the cloud.
