Aeotec Door/Window Sensor 7

Just got an email from Aeotec about their new Door/Window Sensor 7 is now available and shipping. Haven't seen anything in the forums on this. I am assuming it will be compatible with HE. Looks like it also has dry contact sensor connection for other devices.

Wonder how much smaller it really is.

That's a nice 3-in-1 sensor: contact, tilt, and dry-contact. Would love to see it added if it isn't already compatible.

I saw that too.

Size looks small. Of course, I'm sure the price will not be.

Probably hard to justify over some of the dirt cheap zigbee contact sensors floating around. Or the Nyce ones w/5 year battery.

Amazon shows 39.99 and are in stock.

Found the size of the sensor. Shows 2.8”x0.75”x0.7” (main body) . Although I have never seen a battery like that's in it. Shows to be a 1/2 AA battery. Sure they're not cheap

That's not too awful... For Aeotec.

Monoprice zwave plus are ~$20... Most zigbee ones are ~$20, too. The NYCE 5 year battery ones are ~$40.

Anyway, it is a good looking device and it is cool that it supports external contacts.

I just picked up one of these since I couldnt find another gen 5 dry contact sensor.

It is small. The Generic driver does work. To enable the dry contact sensor I had to configure it using the Basic Z-Wave Tool driver.

Looks like the pretty much copied the Fibaro FGK-101 sensors that have been out for awhile. Even uses the same battery.

The last set of 10 I got of Ebay for my Fibaro FGK-101's was $16.85. Don't put these batteries in sensors in cold climate they won't last but a couple days. I'm not really a fan of these batteries, I'm surprised Aeotec went with them.

Yup. The only addition is tilt sensor capability.

I also just received my sensor and have it working using the Generic Z-Wave Contact Sensor driver. I tried other multisensor drivers, but none reported correctly. I'm hoping Hubitat can add this in an upcoming release and hopefully it also includes battery %.

Has anyone started work on a driver for this yet?

Wouldn't be hard to do, since it is zwave and the capabilities/command classes are all published.

Someone could make a user driver, but it would be better to hear if Hubitat is going to make an in-box driver before someone spends a bunch of time making a user driver. (I don't have the device, so I am not planning on making it).

One thing that I've noticed since getting 3 of these, is that the battery state is not correctly reported with the generic driver. I had one of them completely drain the battery due to being just barely outside of the range of other z-wave devices (I've since gotten a repeater), but the battery state was never reported less than 100%.

I've started putting a driver together, I'll publish it on GitHub once I've got it working how I think it should. #MyFirstDriverAlert

A driver for this will be in platform 2.1.4

@mike.maxwell Looks like this driver didn't make the cut for 2.1.4. Any plans for next release (or sooner)?

Waiting for Aeotec to get their S*** together and tell us why the param settings in their docs don't match the firmware (supposedly the latest) that we wrote the driver for...
The driver is done, with the exception of that problem...

Ok, thanks. Appreciate the work on this.

Can you use the DS18B20 external temp sensors with the dry contact connection on these like it can with the Fibaro FGK-101's?

can someone explain to me what a dry contact is and what it's used for or how it's used? Thanks.
