When switching to ZwaveJS, should there be an option to update the Zwave Firmware? In several threads that I have read related to switching to ZwaveJS, the posts mention updating to the 7.22 firmware after the switch. My hub is currently on version 7.18 (found via /hub/zwaveVersion) and I am not seeing an upgrade option. I have performed several restarts after the change to ZwaveJS and have also shutdown and pulled the power for 30+ seconds.
I'm having issues getting some of my battery devices to reconnect and would like to make sure everything is on the correct versions before continuing/troubleshooting.
I'm getting the ZWave version from here. Where did you pull the VersionReport string you are showing?
From the Hub Info device driver I see the following:
And from the Hub Z-Wave Mesh Details app it's notifying me that a firmware update is available, but when I go to the Zwave settings page the button is not present.
EDIT - i just thought maybe you saw the last "18" like had and thought maybe it wasn't updated - but it does sound like if you're getting the notice that firmware update is available it hasn't been applied yet
sorry don't have any other info - might be time to open a support ticket.
The only other thing I might try if it was me (nothing to back this up just my own experimentation) is switching back to legacy Z/IP -- let it settle down, then flip back to JS if you want to try again.
I've given JS a few tries but I'm holding back for now,
Is there a proper way to create a support ticket for a release related issue? I thought the Hubitat devs/support monitored the forums for these types of issues and helped/created issues based on the reports.
LOL that is a damn good question - I never really thought of it, Sebastien probably got to the point quicker by tagging. If you click on "support" it actually advises you to post in the "ask anything" section ~ but the "get help" section does seem to be a more obvious choice
Youโre on the latest available version (7.18). 7.22 was out for a bit (maybe just in beta, but not sure) but it got pulled since it could cause issues in some instances.
Thatโs peculiar- thought the recommendation was 7.22 for C-8 pro when switching to JS? If they did pull you would assume there would not be a notification indicating an update was available. FWIW Iโm not in beta so I got mine from general release.
I went thru the Hubitat Zwave Mesh Details app to see where it was getting the info for the Firmware version update available popup. I found that it's hitting the /hub/zwaveDetails/json endpoint and querying the isRadioUpdateNeeded attribute which is showing true.
Still not sure if this is a UI bug or possibly something leftover from pulling the 7.22 firmware back.
Never switched to ZwaveJS, still running legacy. Recently bought 3 Zooz 800LR devices & tried installing by changing Region to "US-LR - 908.4 Mhz, 916 Mhz" & using jtp10181's SmartStart app. Ended up using SmartStart & got all 3 included with "SmartStart Boot Mode". Just noticed the Firmware Update popup in the Hubitat Zwave Mesh Details app & also wondering if I miss configured something or experiencing or UI bug.
Out of curiosity, did you ever hear back from Support Team & were you able to successfully join any LR Z-Wave devices to your hub?
Since you said you changed the hub's Region to US, where are you located?
If you're in the US, then "US-LR - 908.4 Mhz, 916 Mhz" should've already been the default setting for 8-series hubs -- it covers both LR and mesh z-wave.
That firmware update note is unique to the (community-developed) ZW Mesh Details app -- as mjarends indicates in the post above yours, I suspect that's a leftover artifact back from from when 7.22 was available.
Right on... It's odd the LR setting wasn't already set, but stranger things, I guess!
I think there are cases where some other users have been stymied trying to get LR devices added too -- I don't recall any smoking guns found yet though.
Now that you have the devices in Jeff's SS Manager app, have you tried editing one of them to Boot Mode = SmartStart LR? (then exlcude/re-include)?
That may be a shot in the dark, but perhaps worth a try...
Yes, was able to exclude it without creating any Ghosts, now when rescanning the QR code it defaults to LR but get the error below in system log. Have shutdown the hub, waited for over a minute & powered backup so many times I can't count .
Strange thing now is when I try to exclude it by hitting the down paddle 3x (Xen71 800LR), the LED on the switch remains solid blue like nothing is happening. But if I hit the Up paddle 3x it starts blinking for several seconds indicating that it's trying to join.
I've read all jtp10181's community posts (multiple times) but wanted to rule out any rookie mistakes before wasting his time. Probably don't need LR, was just trying to resolve an issue with intermittent Zen17 relay on GDO.
Thanks for your responses Hydro! I'll just chalk the firmware update message in Zwave Mesh Details app as an anomaly & move on.
