Zwave and possible RF interference causing problems

I have a zwave issue that has popped up as of late i would like feedback on as i am trying to determine how to correct it. My zwave devices have been working perfectly for 3 years and about 2 months ago Zwave started acting strange. To include or exclude devices even 2 feet from the hub works intermittently. i used my spare C8 and tested it and got the same outcome. It is very strange, as an example, i am getting device reports from previously paired devices but turning a switch on or off does not respond. Zwave repair always fails with the 'device not responsive' message. Again even 2 feet from the hub. It is not a single device, it is any zwave device. I have been able to exclude most of the time but then even after factory resetting the device(s) they will not include. I am speculating that perhaps a radio in the 900mhz spectrum is keyed up nearby - just grasping at straws for the root cause. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! jj

You could open the Zwave settings and click the View Logs to see if you have a device. All it takes is one device to bring down your entire mesh unfortunately.

I personally bought a Zwave stick and flashed the zniffer firmware on it to troubleshoot situations like this. You can read more here:

I appreciate it. I was on that track last week. It's a yacht and has a mix of zigbee and zwave. I removed all of the zwave devices (only 5) as most everything is zigbee. I added the passive devices (motion detectors) x 3 and a remote (the Wallmote quad). Each excluded fast, but had 1-3 tries to get them to include and initialize. I then added a line device, a zooz plug. It added but NMW it will not accept inbound to the device commands, i.e., the devices sends voltage reports every 5 seconds without fail but it will not turn on or off via the UI. I really only need to use this device to report shore power failures, zigbee plugs work perfect. At this point as MSNBC would say its weird. I dont need to use any more zwave devices, zigbee works great - its all open spaces, no walls, dont need zwave at all frankly. Just curious. i nearly bought a spectrum analyzer to scan the waves. Old marine radar is in the 1g just shy of 900mhz and with zwave working perfectly for 3 years and like snap zwave got weird, i was thinking did someone leave their radar on bombing my slip. this is not a problem, zigbee is solid, just worth tossing it out to brilliance like yours to see if i could get an ah-ha moment. Thank you!! jj

I had a related problem (before Hubitat Hub). Long story short the cause was a bad (noisy) AC adapter.

Perhaps you could turn off everything possible (that could generate RF). And if it goes away then it's just a process of elimination.

tried that too - running off a dedicated UPS also. thank you though.

as many big boats as are there, ten bucks its a newbie and the radar, jj
