SmartStart Manager - I've used this to add several device successfully. This is all I ever get with this device. It's almost like the device stops trying before the process is finished.
This appears to be the SS bootstrapping issue described in this thread - it may be worth a read...
Corrected thread link:
Ugh, I just realized that thread is tagged as Beta -- moderators, any thoughts on possibly freeing up that Bootstrapping thread now? We're well clear of that particular beta...
Another ugh... now just realized that thread was spilt off into a non-Beta version... Editing my post here accordingly now... Moderators, my apologies for the false alarm.
I was just going to post that other thread you found.
I skimmed through it, and it is relatively confusing. TLDR: Typically you have to reset the z-wave radio and rebuild everything to fix the constant bootstrapping error when pairing LR devices.
However, someone just recently has found a trick that is working for them, may work for
others.
After Step 5 exclude, since you already have it sitting in SmartStart in LR mode the device will immediately try to pair as LR. It will either get the bootstrapping error still, or maybe it will work...?
Fingers crossed... - To add some context, I was doing this under ZWaveJS running SiLabs Zwave Radio FW ver 7.18. - I have no idea if that matters or not, or if there is a specific combination of versions that need to be inplace for this to work.. But I can believe ZIP versus JS could make a difference.
The reason any of this works is both unclear and surprising to me.
I converted to JS a little while back. I can't remember what all changed/failed, but I do remember that my Schlage locks could no longer distinguish between being "thumb" locked and keypad locked which broke a few rules. Weirdly, the text returned was different.
Nice! Unless you have a very specific reason to have it on LR, I'd strongly consider just leaving it mesh... At least until more gels with HE's JS evolution.
Among other things, it's not currently possible to do a device-level firmware update on LR devices under JS (although Bryan is now looking into that )
In some good news, the LR/JS Firmware Updater issue has been fixed (as of yesterday) in the latest Hubitat beta release, so improvements are in motion.
You should be able to add an LR device to SmartStart in the 2.0 mobile app using the QR code, or I think optionally by manually typing in the entire DSK. Highly recommended to use the QR code to add it in, which also sets a bunch of defaults from the QR code. Then use my SmartStart manager app just to manage the list.
For your Save issue, you would need to provide more detailed steps on what you are trying to do exactly, or a screenshot (or both would be best).
So the scan was my fault. Sigh...it was for the device but not the QR code to add.
The Smartstart APP issue is repeatable. iPhone 16 Pro latest OS and App. It's actually really hard just to select LR as well....but save is impossible.
I tried changing font sizes on the phone etc...nothing helped. Obviously, I made up the DSK...but a real one changes nothing.
