Zigbee 1/2 gang light switches keeps freezing

Good evening,

I have a problem and I have no idea what could be the cause and how to solve it. I don't have much experience with zigbee mesh (in my other home there is a wired smart system (also few z-wave devices). Now my wife is so comfortable with our system (scenes, mobile app, our routines) that she asked me to do the same in our second home. However, I didn't want to start with laying cables again and I was looking for something that I can adapt to the existing electrical installation so I chose HE (mainly because is local and has a zigbee / z wave).

All this month (or actually weekends) I was setting up the hub and devices. I added a few of them without any problems and they have worked great so far.

Hue bulbs (3), Hue Ambiance Play (2), Smart 4 Button Scene Switch (battery version), Sonoff motion sensors (2), Ikea outlet (1) and these switches:

Basically these are the switches from these topic:

So far, I have installed 1 of one gang version and 1 of two gangs version. They were great. Fast response / circuit always online for HE / works great like other analog switches - also when HE is off.

Until last weekend, everything was fine with them. I have several of them in box, so I decided to install more. I connected another 2-gang switch.

It was a mistake.

At first, I noticed that something was wrong with this switch because one of the buttons did not turn on one of the electrical circuits when pressed. Only the right button worked. Also - even when paired with a HE using the same driver as before it will not display two child devices.

Worse - after a few clicks, other switches started to freeze.

When I unplugged the device, everything was back to normal. I thought - it's a bad unit. I contacted the seller and agreed a replacement.

In the meantime, it turned out that now (even when the "faulty" device is disconnected and ready for replacement) other switches still stop working after pressing them several times. This means that something else is happening here.

HE is turned off, but the switches still should be working when I press the button (they worked this way in the last month when the hub was turned off). Instead now all of them keep freezing after few clicks.

How is it possible when my HE is turned off that all of them have stopped working properly?

Is it possible that other zigbee devices are making a mess right now? The only other zigbee device that is on right now is IKEA Tradfri Outlet.

I am just couriuous how it may happen and why. Also how to repair that and avoid these situation in future (as i said earlier still have over 10 switches to install).

PS. Before trying to add this "bad" switch, I updated HE.

I will not be able to access the HE until Sunday, but I would be grateful for your help and any advice.

This doesnโ€™t seem related to the issue you describe, but still something to remember - Hue bulbs will most likely cause issues with your Zigbee mesh. They, like most other Zigbee bulbs (except Sengled) are not able to properly repeat with Hubitat. They should be placed on their own hub (I have a Hue hub for mine).

Removing them from Hubitat might be a good start to see if it helps.

Yes I know about it. I have a Hue hub. Each Philips bulb is connected via a philips hub to HE. I forgot to mention it. Sorry.

I will still try to remove them. Thanks.

If you have a Hue hub, youโ€™re all set. No need to remove it.
