Zen71 shows up as a question mark on dashboard

I have a Zen71 that shows up as a question mark on the dashboard. The template being used is a switch same as several others that I already have in use. If I push the button on the dashboard nothing happens, but I can make the device work if I go to devices.

I can create a virtual device and Link it to the switch and it works on a dashboard. With this workaround, I really don't need to solve the problem but you know how it is you want things to work the way they're supposed to.

What driver are you using with the Zen21? It sounds like the driver doesn't have a switch capability, which it should.

Thank you for responding, I am using the Zooz Zen 71 switch native driver. I am using the same driver on eight other switches none of which have this issue.

You added it to the devices on the dashboard app, right? Then hit the check mark on dashboard so it refreshes?

Yes. I am also tried just adding the Zen 21 to a different tile that is also a switch and then changing the driver. Same result. By the way, I've also excluded deleted and readded the device with the same result.

How about deleting the tile and adding it somewhere else on the dashboard?

Thanks for the fast response, I have tried moving it, changing an existing tile that works, creating a brand new dashboard. All results in the same. It is just strange.

How about pasting a picture of the device page?

I don't know if the system driver is now @jtp10181 's community driver, but you could try his driver.

None of this adds up, let me summarize

  • You have multiple of same switch using same driver and only one has an issue
  • The one with an issue you totally deleted from the hub and re-included, and issue persists.

If you say both of those are true, that would seem impossible to me.

You need to show us the states and current states on the device page.
Also show the settings of the dashboard tile.

You sure it's not a dimmer, lol?
Maybe look at the writing, take a pic, of the front of the switch (still installed but with the wall plate off). Maybe it'll provide a clue.

Even a dimmer would still work as a switch on a dashboard, because it has the switch attribute. Literally all you need is the "switch" current state with a value of "on" or "off" and it would work.

I wonder if this is the goofy bug where the driver uses On / Off instead of on / off. This is why a screenshot of the states is critical, that is all that matters, anything else is speculation.

Using the native driver, but I will give this one a shot. Posted is the device page- - even though faith in the name there is no fan it is just a light and nothing more. Nothing special not a dimmer nothing.

What you're saying is absolutely true, which is why this is both weird and frustrating.

I own only one Zooz dimmer and it is still in the original box in the garage.

Jeff is the expert, but I wonder why the last activity is yesterday morning?

You posted everything on the device page EXCEPT for what I asked to see.

I want State and Current States, examples from a ZEN21 (with my driver) below:

Also I wanted to see the dashboard tile config, example:

Dunno. I flipped it off and on just now using the devices page and there is no change to the activity date time

Also, that is a ZEN71, not a 21, the 21 is an old discontinued model.
The data you posted did come in handy for that.

It is a Zen71, my mistake -- the 21 was part of conversation that was going on about kids lego parts in the other room. Too many folks still here form the holiday

Here ya go, result is in the upper left corner.
